The Foundry, 5-Aug-23, Dinner
There is a lot to like about The Foundry. It’s a fine place to relax and have a drink, with its cozy but elegant industrial vibe, look, and feel—enjoying drinks with friends and family is a pleasant and fun experience. But that excellent cocktail bar of theirs went from cool and classy to a loud mess of a place around 11 pm or so—our elevator stopped there as we were departing, only to be greeted with an incredibly loud music blasting through that very tiny space. Why must everything in Bahrain turn into a horribly loud nightclub after dinner?
The Meat/Meal: 1 kg tomahawk ribeye from the US at 570 SAR for a 3-person share (it was that or the single serve Argentinian ribeye). This was the ribeye with the disappearing flavor. It was crusted nice, and the flavor and seasoning shone through for a brief instant before dissipating quickly in the mouth. Luckily for me, they made one hell of a peppercorn sauce, which I used to up the flavor profile of the ribeye—not good.
In keeping with this year’s tradition, shared starters was the norm. Maryland crab cakes—wonderful, divine even. The Breseola was light, and paired with b the most amazing dill pickles I’ve had in many moons—those pickles complimented well the lightness of the breseaola. And finally tuna ceviche, an olive oil doused mess of a dish that is not Ceviche. Fortunately, the tuna ceviche came with homemade and heavily fried tortilla triangles, which completely overpowered the delicate lightness of the tuna (perhaps a seafood/rice cracker next time).
Am certain I’d like The Foundry on most nights, just not on a steak night. But I’d go back again to see if their Argentinian ribeye fared better than...
Read moreWhile i visited restaurants all over the world, people reviews guided me to try the top restaurants but this mix of American/ bistro seemed to be under rated by reviewers. Maybe their experience with the service didnt meet their expectations but their steaks make you forget life it self. Never tasted a well cooked and seasoned peice of meat like this! It changes the definition and standard of your favorite steaks. I personally would give a michelin star for such remarkable cook. I tried the Filet of Beef and Lamp Shank, simply i know i marked the Filet as my Favorite dish without additions and the lamp shank as my second but you must try it with the Entrecote butter souce. Last but not least, you must end that beautiful experience with Sticky Toffee date cake, where there is not ending better than that. I didnt like ice cream nor the espresso that much but the cake was rich and flavorful like no other and i eat date cakes a lot. I truly hope reviewers lift up good restaurants like this because its a shame to find the top of 10 not worthy of the their position and this one isnt...
Read moreUSED TO BE MY FAVOURITE STEAK RESTAURANT IN BAHRAIN, however I recently visited the restaurant and the food quality was not as expected and we were extremely disappointed, that's why I am rating it 4 stars or else it would have been 5.
So this was my go to restaurant for all my important ocassions (birthdays and anniversaries).
Our order was as follows:
I hope that the quality will improve and that this issue is just temporary, given how good the food was.
Moreover, they do have indoor and rooftop seating, both are great, staff...
