This 1-star review is based upon the exceptionally poor customer service provided by Bake Me A Wish which resulted in them not delivering my $150 birthday cake order for my wife, and, to add insult to injury, refusing to refund my money for the cakes they didn’t deliver.

The snafu was all over my accidentally transposing two numbers in the delivery address which resulted in their delivery agent (UPS) not delivering my item. But wait, you say, didn’t you provide your contact phone number and email so that foreseeable issues like this that arise during deliveries could be easily addressed ? Well of course I did. But why didn’t they call, text, or email you to let you know there was an issue before UPS decided to initiate a “return to sender.” Thats an excellent question. Sadly, Bake Me A Wish had no interest in answering it. Instead, when I raised my concerns to them via email and phone call, I received a terse email reply that not only would they not be delivering my cakes, they would also refuse me any refund. They gave no explanation nor ever an excuse from why neither they nor UPS ever bothered to contact me while the delivery was ongoing to easily clarify the delivery address. Instead, their offer to “remedy” the situation was to discount 25% off a future order. NO THANK YOU. I refuse to throw good money after bad.

Bottom line: I have no idea if their cakes are tasty or not, because their exceptionally poor customer service never gave me the chance to find out. Order from them if you want to, but I suggest you have a...

I had a very special event to celebrate a dear friend’s 5+ year cancer-free accomplishment and wanted an awesome cake that could be delivered on a specific day. Bake Me A Wish seemed perfect! They had great reviews, great cakes, allowed for three lines of messaging on the cake, and offered Saturday delivery for an extra cost (clearly stated). I was thrilled. I spent quite some time trying to fit the exact right message onto their three lines with 6 characters on the first line and 8 on the last two.

And then—their order confirmation removed all punctuation from my lines. The punctuation—in this case just a period, but an essential one—was stripped out. I got concerned and immediately emailed them using their online form. The next morning, I called and waited at least 20 minutes before requesting a call back (none came, despite their “we value your call” message). Finally, they emailed back and said: no punctuation allowed, and also no “inappropriate” words (in my case, “hell” in “Hell yah”—exactly 8 characters—chosen intentionally to celebrate this milestone).

I had tried other words and knew some were blocked, which was annoying but at least clear. What wasn’t clear was the disconnect between what their order form allowed and what their actual process rejected.

They did refund me (assuming it goes through), but I lost valuable time and, more importantly, the chance to get what I really wanted.

I’m sure their cakes are good, but their ordering process and hidden rules are not...

I placed 20 orders for the Dutch Apple Pie as a thank-you to hard working employees. Their website says this about packaging and shipping:

Bake Me A Wish! takes the utmost care with each and every gourmet bakery gift we ship. Our system is tried and true, utilizing various components such as dry ice, polystyrene, and ice gels to keep your gift secure and fresh. Our gifts are always backed by our strong 100% guarantee for fresh delivery!

Unfortunately, that was not the case with these pies. There was no protective packaging or cooling agent included. Every one of the pies were simply in a flimsy box/pie tin and were damaged. We specifically selected this company because of the presentation and shipping method. This was a very disappointing end to a well-intentioned recognition of valuable team members.

I emailed customer care and they blamed UPS for the mishandling, and would offer a full refund for every damaged pie I sent in a picture. These were GIFTS-to ask them to take time to take a photo and email it to me was ridiculous and embarrassing. Not to mention, they didn't package them as claimed, so it's hard to blame UPS when it was their shortcoming. They offered a 10% refund. This order was over $1000! I asked to speak with a manager because, again, the misrepresented their "utmost care" in shipping. They topped out at a 15% refund. Never again. And word of mouth has gone far amongst my colleagues as we always like to share ideas for recognition gifts and...

Update to original review: customer care contacted me with 3-options — ship another at no cost, store credit if I would like to try something else, or a full refund. They’ve done an excellent job making sure the customer is 100% satisfied. I’ve ordered this exact cheese cake before and was delighted— unfortunately, not this time. The package looked fine on the outside. It looked slightly misshapen, but I couldn’t tell why. When we removed the plastic and the cake ring you could see something very odd. Giant chunks of crust were under the cake. This does not look like shipping damage. It looks like a quality control issue. The taste of the crust was not very good. It tastes like it’s missing sugar or salt or both. It wasn’t right. The cheese cake was not the texture you would expect for NY Style. It was mushy. Very disappointing for my husband’s birthday surprise. I would not order again. $80 with shipping is a steep price to pay for something that looks bad and tastes worse.

I wanted to surprise my husband with his favorite birthday cake.. carrot cake. My favorite bakery closed down so I began searching for another option. I thought having a surprise delivery would be nice and somethingdifferent to try. Reviews seemed decent enough for Bake Me A Wish! so I placed an order. It was delivered on time and with notifications sent along the way. However, it was flawed when it arrived, the icing was missing in a small area. He was very pleased with flavor, said it was very good. I was a bit disappointed, it didn't look like "bakery quality" and was lopsided. The price is expensive, in my opinion, for what he received (cake plus shipping). He was happy, and for that and the fact that he did enjoy it, I gave 3 stars. If it was a cake for myself I would say it is 2 stars. I have had better quality from the local grocery at a better price.

When I first received my birthday cake I was horrified with what I received for $50. The cake was flat and thin. The rosettes on top were practically non-existing and the icing was thin as well and separating. Nothing like the picture on the website! I had rated 1 star. (Pictures for Comparison) But within a few hours of me posting my initial review, the company contacted me and offered me a refund or to send out another cake. I opted for the refund as I'm afraid to trust UPS with shipping a cake to me again! I will give UPS a grade of F as they didn't give care while shipping the cake to me Great communication with the company but I think for now on I will order locally and not deal with shipping

Parents sent me a cake for my birthday since we live far apart. Cake showed up a full day late, after having me stay home all day on the expected delivery date to make sure it wasn't just left outside. Cake was delivered, with no notice, warm (after my birthday had already passed), icepack inside had long since thawed and heated up, and it looked as you see in the photos I attached. No clue what it was meant to look like, but it was certainly not appetizing. Safe to say it went in the trash immediately. If you want to reliably send someone a cake and not pin them in their house on their birthday as they wait for an inedible cake to not arrive until the next day, I'd say maybe look elsewhere.

For a while now, I have consistently purchased from Bake Me A Wish online. Prior to my recent purchase (delivery on September 4, 2024), my experiences were mostly positive. Along with the sampler basket of cookies and brownies, I ordered four Jumbo Cupcakes. The package arrived on schedule. However, they arrived in a messy state. It appears like the transporter did not treat them carefully, or perhaps the wrapping was not the best? This was supposed to be a surprise, as usual, but the receiver was not delighted with the cupcakes' appearance. Sadly, it seems like this attempt was unsuccessful.

I had a great experience with Bake Me a Wish! I ordered a birthday cake for my mother who lives in another state, to be delivered the day before her big day. The ordering process was easy, quick, and clear and I was so pleased with the ease of tracking the cake 🎂 once it shipped. It is fairly expensive, along with the next day shipping, but for the service it provides, the price was not surprising & I feel was worth it! The cake was delivered on time and my mom loved how beautiful it was and let me know it was absolutely delicious! 😋 I would definitely use them again for a special day!!

Delivered cupcakes for my boyfriend birthday with selection of certain date of arrival. Cupcakes were sent day before but arrived 4 days later all melted and looked like something run over them. In description was written option of 5-8 cupcakes delivered but finally they sent me only 4! I’ve sent 2 emails about this situation- no response. Had to call them paying for call (out of USA) and luckily they refunded my money immediately. I have to say, I’m very disappointed with service and especially delivery by UPS agents who didn’t take any care of fragile package.
