Blue Salt is a small café hidden away at the very end of Road 113/A in Gulshan, and secluded from the busy main road. We went for lunch just after opening hours during the Eid holidays, so there weren't many customers. The café is small and cozy. After thoroughly going through the reviews beforehand, we tried a few of the highly rated items including Prawn Pad Thai and Chicken Gyro. We also ordered Stir Fried Rice, Brazilian Lemonade, and Mint Lemonade.
The viral Pad Thai didn't taste great, but taste buds are of course, different. To us it was rubbery and tasted too full of spice in a way it shouldn't be. The Chicken Gyro had a side of Tumeric Rice, which could have tasted better but it was what it said, Tumeric flavored rice.
The Mint Lemonade wasn't balanced and refreshing, because they might have used too many mint leaves during blending. It tasted too minty, kind of like toothpaste. But the Brazilian Lemonade was well balanced and refreshing. We enjoyed the Stir Fried Rice, it has a side of chicken with slight crunch to it and tasted fresh and lemony, in the way good jhalmuri does.
All their items are 1:1. They felt well portioned, i.e. not too little or too much. Would come back again to try the other well reviewed items. It is truly budget friendly, which you wouldn't expect to find in the Gulshan area. It is a hidden gem with unique food.
Because the cafe is small, coming in during off peak hours or during holiday season was great. The decor is well done, the entrance and building itself has an aristocratic look to it. Couldn't see a washroom and only a kitchen door, but we didn't ask. Smoking and vaping are...
Read moreThis small inconspicuous restaurant in Gulshan is the perfect spot for a cosy hangout with friends or an intimate date. The food is delicious. The service is slightly amateurish but sweet and respectful. The decor is nice, especially if you're looking for a place to host a small get together or impromptu birthday party.
The quality of the food actually took me by surprise. I'd expected standard tasting food but nothing special. However they absolutely blew me away with their well-rounded dishes. The prices are quite reasonable as well. We ordered the poutine and the lemon cream chicken fillet pasta (we asked for spaghetti, but you could get a different paste as well).
The poutine comes with ground beef and cheese sauce. The cheese sauce is brilliant with a proper cheese flavor coming through. The fries are perfectly cut and fried. Overall good dish.
Their lemon cream chicken fillet pasta is my new favorite pasta dish. The perfect amount of mouthwatering cream sauce coating the spaghetti and chicken makes this dish absolutely delectable. The lemon flavour really comes through with a dash of lemon zest that just rounds off this dish splendidly. They added lemon zest on the poutine as well, and we loved it.
Overall, would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a new cosy spot in central Gulshan. Go there while it's still relatively unknown, because I have a feeling that pasta won't be kept under wraps...
Read moreThe food was really spicy, the taste was average, we had chicken stir fry with egg fried rice which was really spicy and thus hard for us to eat. We further had Chicken and rice with spicy fried rice, Chicken Gyro, Chicken pepper stick with spicy fried rice, Beef dumplings, Ice Tea and lemonade. The beef dumplings really disappointed us. The service was mid it took a lot of time for them to bring our foods. Also a lot of items were not available, nothing on the snacks and desert section was available also soft drink was not available. When we ordered for beef dumplings they said it was not available but after like 10 minutes they said that it was available. The indoor atmosphere is good though it is really small but not a place for a lot of people to hang out as the whole restaurant only has 16 seats. The outdoor atmosphere is really good place to...
