't Putke — Restaurant in Antwerp

The food was not good. We ordered bread, l'entrecote, and mussels. We weren't expecting it to be the best, recognizing it is in a tourist hotspot.

The bread was decent.

The mussels were okay. Quite a large number of shells hadn't opened, and others were off/tasted very wonky. The ones that tasted okay were quite delicious.

The steak was horrible. We ordered medium rare. It came out blue rare. We were srruggling to saw through it with our knife. Not a big problem. We asked if they could refire it, and they did. When it came back, medium rare, it was just unpleasant to eat. Tough,chewy... We didn't finish it. The worst steak I have ever had in a restaurant. The peppercorn sauce had full peppercorns in it. We had to pick each one out to finish the steak.

At £30+ per head for a main course, this was beyond a disappointment.

The wait staff was lovely. Friendly, prompt, a delight to be around. I wish the food was similar.

I must express my disappointment with this restaurant. If you're looking for an authentic Belgian dining experience, especially for mussels, you should consider going elsewhere. The restaurant has undergone a staff change, and the chef is now from asia rather than Belgium.

This shift in staff has impacted the quality and authenticity of the dishes, particularly the mussels, which are traditionally a Belgian specialty. The new chef may have culinary skills, but the food now lacks the genuine Belgian touch that was once the hallmark of this establishment.

I recommend seeking out other venues where you can enjoy traditional Belgian cuisine prepared by chefs who have a deep understanding and appreciation of the local...

good food and waiters rushing at the visitors!

we were sitting in a big company, the waitress got up and started shouting that they had to leave and we had to go down to pay. she was politely asked to bring the machine for payment and to calculate us on the spot. insults and rudeness were showered in response. when she was reprimanded and asked to lower her tone, she came up to the man at point-blank range, and began to poke her head in his face, and provoked a fight. judging by the reaction of colleagues, this is the norm of behavior with guests in this institution.
