Fish A'Gogo — Restaurant in Antwerp

To begin this review I must say that i am only 15 and was already treated like some second-rate customer without any reasoning. First of all when you sit down on the few chairs that are available you basically lend on the floor which is extremely uncomfortable. Tables have only a few centimetres between them not to mention the size of them. What about the customer service? The atmosphere was not welcoming at all. I must say that it even felt like the cashier tried to get rid of us. So,we were 3 there and the first issue we faced was the fact that we couldn’t make separate bills which was already not really pleasant from the restaurant’s side. Then we tried to make an order. A big one! Croquettes x2,mussels and Fish and chips x2. When we came up to the cashier he was chewing a gum,which is not really pleasant to see when the person talks to you in the face,but this was only the beginning! When we made an order including our friend the first thing we heard from the worker was : “You eat here,you drink”. With an extremely disparaging attitude. We tried to understand why are we obliged to and the response was extremely disrespectful and frustrating “Its not a problem for us if you eat somewhere else” From our part,we were being polite to the worker and tried to be respectful of their work but the only response we got was rudeness. Not to mention that even when we left the cashier laughed at us,said “Bravo!” and clapped. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants their dignity to...

I've been here a few times and the food is overall very fresh. We usually go for the razor clams, oysters and deep fried grey shrimps (crangon crangon) and a few other dishes.

This weekend they had fresh pulpo a la gallega on the specialty menu, so we gave it a try. The meat was tender, but a bit overcooked, giving the meat a "soggy" texture. It was ok for me, but my table partner didn't like it at all.

The crangon crangon was perfectly seasoned and crunchy. I would recommend this dish for every visitor.

The oysters were sweet and fresh, although be careful of stray pieces of shell before you dig in.

The mussels were perfectly cooked and were sand-free. I enjoyed these a lot, but I wouldn't say they're a must.

Sadly, the razor clams I would never recommend unless you don't mind sand in your food. Every time I've been here, I've had sand in almost every single clam. It's hard to enjoy with the sandy texture.

Overall the experience was positive. There's no other alternatives for this type of cuisine in Antwerp, so it's a good stop to add on your food trip! Belgians aren't too fond of seafood, but they sure do love their mussels and grey shrimps. They're an absolute staple in our culture and this restaurant...

Do you want cheap? You'll get cheap. I can't quite understand how this "restaurant" is so well rated, I've only had disappointments here. 8 euros for a tiny portion of mussels, 10 euros for literally 5(!) shrimps and 4 euros a glass of white wine of the worst quality you can find. You'll have to eat standing up or in a wobbly bar stool if you can find a table at all, after being mistreated by the cook. When I've left an older lady has asked me if everything was alright, I've replied no and she just ignored me and walked away, without asking anything.

To give you a comparison, t' Putke restaurant which is the second best rated restaurant on Google or TripAdvisor, is better located just around the corner and makes a 4x potion of mussels for 20 euros (fries and bread comes with it - for 2 people), and much better quality wine for same 4 euros. You won't have to fight for a table, will be comfortably sitting down and will be served by a polite waiter that won't disrespect you. I was just greatly disappointed by Fish a'gogo... NOT...
