Honestly this restaurant is rather average . It doesn’t live up to its hype. The drinks are fine but there is some sort of confusion with the word mocktail as they bring you some sort of fruit juice as a mock tail .However the place itself is nice and cozy and the waiter was extremely friendly. But the chicken with soup had very poor quality control over it as it was so overcooked, a fully grown adult was struggling to eat it .The soup was too buttery and had vegetables in it that felt as if they had been frozThe tartare was average and was sort of mushy like baby food .However the rabbit delivered on all expectations and the person who ate it went out with a huge smile The desert was something that my child was looking forwarding but as all contain alcohol he could not have anything .He came out in tears and was extremely unhappy . The beef stew was good and properly cooked but sadly yet again poor control of produce. Person who ate this says this was good rather than amazing. And this comes from a chef .Overall an average place with poor quality...
Read moreWe recently spent our Xmas holiday in Bruges and had a very nice Xmas Eve dinner at Bistro Christophe on Garenmarkt. Opening hours are 12-2pm (lunch) and 6-10pm (dinner) Thursday to Monday. The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesday.
Seating area is nice and spacious at Christophe. Staff were pleasant and timely during our meal. Menu features traditional Flemish and French cuisine.
On the evening, we enjoyed the Signature Venison medallions served with mash, bitter veg, sweet pear and croquettes. Venison was prepared nicely at medium rare and tasted great. We also enjoy the Pheasant which was nicely paired with chicory, sprouts, berries and pear, providing a really nice medley of flavours with each bite.
Dessert was a typical Belgian style chocolate mouse served with berries. Scoops were smooth, silky and richly flavoured. This was very good as well.
In the end, we much enjoyed our meal at Christophe. This is a place we would gladly consider returning for another meal the next time we...
Read moreThe food was nice for the price standards of Brugges. 50 euro for a 4 plate menu and you are full. The meat did not have a lot of flavour in itself, though. This is maybe because I always buy meat from farms nearby home and I get very savoury pieces of meat that taste already a lot with just salt and pepper. I could not avoid to compare.
The downsides were, in my opinion, that the atmosphere could be pretty much improved. There was a strong sewer smell there on that evening. This is probably already gone but it affected my experience. Maybe some incense or something along those lines would have helped. The candles on our tables were not lighted, which also could have improved the atmosphere. The music was, in my opinion, not the music you would put in a bistro. It was some sort of year 2000 pop and r'n b. Some jazz, some piano or, in general, something more for the ambient (maybe something that sounded more sophisticated) would have also improved...
