I wish I could give this hotel a flawless review, I really do. However, the last of our two nights was interrupted by noisy neighbors. Apparently, the hotel had, despite their own policy, let a pair of children stay unsupervised in the room next to us. At 1am I had enough of the screaming and jumping on the floor(?!), and knocked on the door of the offending parties and made a big shushing sound. This however, did not deter the insufferable behaviour and at 1:30am I called the reception. The porter apologised and came up to put a stop to the disturbance, but from the sound of the knocking and lack of sound from any talking (the walls carry sound incredibly well in this hotel), I can only assume the kids next door kept quiet and waited for him to leave again. Shortly thereafter, the sounds of playing and shouting was heard through the wall again. In the end, I didn't fall asleep until well after 3am. The next day, during checkout, I spoke to the porter about the previous night, and he said he'd seen a notice about it and once again apologised. In the next breath, he put forward the card machine and asked me to pay for the previous day's breakfast. This would all have been forgotten and fine, had he just offered to comp one (or even both) of our breakfasts, but all we got for the ruined night's sleep because of letting children stay unsupervised in a room (again, against hotel policy) was an apology. Truly, a black mark on an otherwise wonderful stay at a beautiful hotel in an even more...
Read moreMy wife Angie & I stayed at the Pand Hotel for 3 nights in May to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. When we arrived we were offered an upgrade to a Junior Suite for an additional cost which we accepted. I must say that the welcome from the reception team was excellent. The Pand Hotel is literally 30 yards to the canal & 3 minutes walk the centre of Bruges. As it was our anniversary we were offered a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrate which was a really nice touch. I can see why this boutique hotel has won several awards they are well deserved. The whole ambiance of the hotel was so relaxed & friendly we felt totally at home during our stay. Our suite was wonderful, it was on 4th floor with views across the rooftops. We had a nice 4 poster bed with desk & chair also 2 easy chairs a CD player & small bar mini bar area. The bathroom was large with 2 basins, a jacuzzi bath & shower. The breakfasts were superb & served by a 'world class' Ignace who was so professional & cooked eggs of your choice to your liking on Granny's Aga. The first course was champagne, followed by a plate of meats & cheeses, various breads & pastries, fresh fruit salad, fruit juices & tea or coffee all served in a delightful dining room. I must say that this is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in anywhere in the world & made our anniversary...
Read moreWe went to Brugge for a romantic weekend so we booked the master suite at the Pand, because it was known for its romantic suites with bubble bath and it’s great location. The location was indeed the best there is. Also the entrance looked good, the option to park (even with electric car) and the staff was friendly.
The master suite, 35m2, was cosy and looked good. The downside was that the light in the wc did not work properly, the bubblebath only party worked (1 of the 5 functions worked), the water drainage was non existent so it was always a watery mess. But worst of all, the overly bright top lights could not be turned off or dimmed. Resulting in an office-lighting vibe at the bubble bath. Not romantic at all. The breakfast for 25 euro pp does contain a glass of champagne, but it’s just a bunch of mini croissants, an egg of your choice, a pre-made fruit salad and non-fresh juices. The breakfasts in the city are waaaay better and more luxurious for that price.
Because of these minor disappointments it did feel less like a romantic hotel especially for this price, but then again the location did make up...
