Bar Lowie — Restaurant in Bruges

The place looks nice and clean and the vibe is very cozy. That’s all I can compliment about this place because we didn’t even get to sit down or been asked to order some takeaways.. 😭

We opened the door, walked in. The male staff standing inside the bar didn’t even notice us. Well sure maybe he’s busy. We went in front of the bar. Still no greeting. We shared 2 seconds of awkward staring at each other before I started to say: “Hey”. The man: “Hi, how can I help you?”. I said: “Yeah, we would like some coffee. Do we just sit at an unoccupied table or..?”. (I asked because he didn’t seem to have any interested in asking how many people we are or guiding us to a table) And the man: “NO. Sorry we’re full.” and we just say “oh ok thank you and left”.

I mean is this a secret club that I don’t know of the rule or how should I reply to his first question? I mean you’re a restaurant/cafe, what else would we come to you? We felt totally ignored and disrespected… (so sad because the place looked really beautiful). It’s not even discrimination (cause I’m Asian) cause my boyfriend is white 🤷🏻‍♂️ so I tried to think of a reason why he behaved that way… Instead of “Hi, how can I help you?”, why not starting with: “Hi, sorry we’re very full right now, but would you like some takeaways?”? 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

It seemed like a little thing, but that split 2minutes kinda killed our vibe :( maybe next time we’ll come at a different time, rather than 11AM on...

We’ve been to this lovely spot twice during our stay in Bruges and absolutely loved it both times. The food is excellent — healthy, tasty, and clearly made with care. The couple who run the place are so warm and welcoming, which made the experience even better.

We’d recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal, whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or just a little treat. Their waffles (both savoury and sweet) are especially delicious! Don’t miss it if...

Everyone should go to this wonderful little café. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating. The café is so charmingly designed that you immediately feel at home and, most importantly, the food is incredibly delicious.
