more to the point the pastries— as a boy i used to go with my mother and sister to the old German pastry shop in Manhattan on E. 86th St. called the Eclair

I have been searching for the last 55 years for an eclair that fits my memory of those ones, and we all know how hard it is to find something as good as we remember childhood

to be honest, I’m always disappointed

Now I can stop searching and let that memory rest because the eclair I had today from this man’s shop was as good as what I remember from 1965 that’s no easy feat

I also had a very good baguette

And tomorrow will make it my mission to purchase one of the beautiful looking mini Cakes...

I always feel a bit bad about struggling with the local language, especially when I come into smaller places like this, but! The staff were super friendly and very well spoken, it felt like a family run place.

Everything we had was absolutely divine! Nothing was overly sweet, we could taste intricate flavours, sponge was light and fluffy and we didn’t feel like a sugar coma afterwards.

Everything is good here from the savoury to the sweet, so try everything.

A very lovely bakery with a big variety of mostly sweet goodies. My everyday croissants and waffles for breakfast in the park beneath were delicious and at a good price (no need for breakfast suggests from the restaurants in the environment). Besides, the employees were very friendly and considering my practises in French language during my purchases rather patient ;) Best regards...
