Feeling Scammed at De Gulden Spoor in Brugge
I recently visited De Gulden Spoor in Brugge with my family (six people) while on a trip from the Netherlands. Unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired.
From the moment we sat down and ordered our drinks, the service was far from smooth. The waiter took the first drink order and then abruptly left for a minute before returning to continue taking the rest of our order. While the drinks were served promptly, the process of ordering food was riddled with complications.
We attempted to order just two bowls of fries to share amongst ourselves, but this simple request turned into a debate with the waiter about the adequacy of the bowl sizes. Despite clarifying that we wanted either two regular portions or one large portion of fries to share, the ordeal continued.
After enduring a wait of at least 30 minutes, only the first two items we ordered were brought to our table. The rest of our order was noticeably absent. As the initial two meals were consumed and cleared, we were left waiting an additional 10 minutes for the rest of our order. This delay was unacceptable and significantly impacted our overall dining experience.
The service throughout the meal was lackluster at best. The waitstaff seemed disinterested and failed to provide the level of hospitality one would expect. To top it off, when the bill arrived, it was a shocking 24 euros more than what we had actually ordered. Thankfully, we caught the mistake immediately after paying and engaged in a discussion to rectify the situation. The fact that we were overcharged raises suspicions of deliberate intent to exploit customers.
Our visit took place on a seemingly quiet Sunday with the terrace sparsely occupied. While the food itself was passable, it was undeniably overpriced, leaving us feeling unsatisfied and taken advantage of. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this establishment to others. It's a shame that such potential was marred by poor service, questionable practices, and the feeling of...
Read moreMy fiance and I took a day trip to Brugge and at the end of it, we wanted to have dinner before we departed back to Brussels. We walked along the sidewalk and checked out a few places and then out came Rus. Super smooth and cool about his ways, while bringing warm sarcasm and we were immediately sold. Rus was inviting, warm and sincere. He truly loves life and his job.
I got the Tomato-Mozzarella with the main order of steak. My fiance got the Soup of the day (Tomato Soup) with the main order of Ham.
The appetizers; the tomato mozzarella and the soup were both to die for. The main courses; ham and steak were exquisite.
This was truly a unique experience and it could not have been without Rus. If I ever come back to Brugge or know anyone that will visit here, I will always recommend this...
Read moreI've done a little research on the reviews for this place and I'm honestly shocked. My husband and I visit this place on a regular basis solely because we really like it. Very tasty food, always fresh. Amazing desserts. Polite and attentive staff. I have a nut allergy, and when I ordered dessert, I apparently didn't say it loud enough (there were noisy customers nearby). In the end, they brought me a dessert with nuts, but they immediately changed it, so there were no problems. The lady boss is very friendly and always ready to help with choosing dishes. Overall a very positive experience. We will continue to go there. In our opinion, one of the best restaurants in the city to spend a comfortable evening with...
