A L'Ombre de la Villa is a culinary gem that provides a great dining experience in a romantic setting. From the moment you step through its doors, you are greeted with an ambiance that whispers sophistication and cosyness. One of the hallmarks of A L'Ombre de la Villa is its commitment to using the freshest ingredients available. Each dish is a testament to the chef's dedication to quality, with vibrant flavors that dance on the palate. With a focus on locally sourced produce, every ingredient sings with freshness and vitality. The staff at A L'Ombre de la Villa are not just servers; they are ambassadors of hospitality. Warm, welcoming, and attentive, they go above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels like royalty. Whether it's offering recommendations from the menu or checking whether everything is fine, their genuine enthusiasm adds an extra layer of charm to the dining experience. The ambiance at A L'Ombre de la Villa is nothing short of magical. Plenty of candles, elegant decor, and intimate seating create a romantic atmosphere that is perfect for a special evening with a loved one. Whether you're celebrating an anniversary or simply indulging in a night out, the ambiance sets the stage for a memorable dining experience. Last but certainly not least, the star of the show is the chef himself. Passionate, creative, and deeply engaged with his craft, he brings a touch of artistry to every dish. Each plate is not only a feast for the senses but also a reflection of his culinary prowess and dedication to perfection. From the first bite to the last, you can taste the love and care that goes into every creation. A L'Ombre de la Villa is more than just a restaurant; it's an escape from the ordinary, a journey into a world of culinary delights. With its fresh ingredients, friendly staff, romantic environment, and exceptional chef, it's no wonder that it stands out as one of Brussels' most beloved dining destinations.

On a weekday evening, we and another table were the only guests dining in the back room. The prices and quality of the food were excellent. The wine pairing suggested was also great. I really enjoyed the tasty meals. Unfortunately the service is not the greatest. We were told we were going to be given bread with the appetizers, but the bread was served about 8 min later. Then we were offered the dessert menu, but after 25 min nobody had come to take the order. I had to go get the waiter and make our request. That's simply unacceptable. If the place had been busy, I would understand the delay, but that was not the case when we were there. Give it a go, but keep in mind that the service is not top notch, and maybe when you give your order remind the staff not to forget you.

A l'Ombre de la Ville is my hidden gem for 2018. As you entered the place, you walked down the kitchen where you have the chance to see the chef cooking, then you reach a beautiful outdoor patio (well decorated with cosy carpets and lighting) where you can eat when the weather allows it. Then comes the food: only a few dishes on the menu + the menu changes often. This means freshness and quality for those who don't know. The dishes are prepared with passion and taste wonderful. One piece of advice: make a reservation before going as they don't have much tables and it gets full quickly. Without hesitation I recommend to visit this place.

To start with the summary: just WOW… how unbelievable can a restaurant experience be?

It all started ok. We arrived 20:15 - we had a reservation at 20:30. The restaurant‘s ambience is very nice and romantic. It was really promising. The drinks arrived very fast.

Then we had to wait for 30 min to get the menus… whereas my pregnant wife asked specifically, what she could eat and what not. After the server offered her to order raw fish, we were quite shocked. We ordered starters and mains. After another ca. 30min, my Wife ended up with 4 and a half pieces of asparagus with butter and 3 berries… for 14€ My starters (Haloomi cheese) was ok…

Then the waiting took another turn. After I asked where our food is, it came almost in an instant… means, we startet eating our mains at 22:00. I had the tartar… but no bread. Had to ask for it extra to get some warmed up torn apart pieces of baguette…

Besides that, the main courses were good (Tartar and Ravioli with seafood).

To complete the picture: as we have been the last guests (also due to all the waiting) the waitress was very unfriendly and the door was...
