Antartique — Restaurant in Brussels

This place offered us an amazing and unique fish experience.

Here is how it works: you go inside the restaurant, to the the fish counter and start choosing which fish you want to eat. They will take the fish, weight it and start preparing it on the grill. You also have a chance to choose salads and some appetizer.

Then you take a table number, and get seated. After about 15 to 20 min, they will bring the entire plate of fish with the combination you choose.

This was pretty amazing! Not to mention that the fish was fresh and super tasty. We actually decided to eat here twice, during our stay in Brussels.

For dinner you clearly need a reservation, because this place is packed, even during weekdays. The restaurant is in walking distance from the Brussels south station and Lemonnier tram stop.

Also, you need to be aware that they don't serve alcohol at all. So be prepared to drink some mint tea...

this place used to be great, day by day it's getting worse and parallel the prices going up strangely. But still, the quality of fresh fish you can find here there is no other place in Brussels. Last time I went there, the restaurant was literally empty but we received our order nearly in 40 minutes. When I was trying to wave hand to the waiter, he wasn't looking (by knowing I'm trying to ask for food).

Still, I can recommend a good place to have fresh fish, but if you are looking for somewhere that has an obvious price and better service, definitely go somewhere there is quite few fish restaurants on the same road. But if you say I don't care about service and if you're reaching enough to pay food, that isn't worth that much then you can...

We were in Brussels south for the sunday fresh market and we needed to eat something. On a wild hunch we entered here. At the ground floor you can buy fish, to take away or to be consumed on the first floor. Prices are very reasonable, there's a lot of choice and you buy the fish by weight. Some appetizer and side dishes are to be chosen from a buffet like second counter. First floor is really clean, toilets too, the staff is very helpful and friendly.
