AD Chocolate fun in Brussels with kids? YES PLEASE! We booked a Belgian chocolate-making workshop 🍫 and it was SO much fun! The kids got hands-on making their own chocs with expert chocolatiers, tasted cacao at every stage (even the bitter liqueur!), and wrapped up their creations to take home 🎁 Bonus: hot choc included + 20% off the chocolate shop! Hairnets on, sweet tooths satisfied – a must-do in Brussels with kids! I recently revisited the Belgium Waffle Workshop in Brussels this May, and I am thrilled to share that my experience was just as exceptional as the previous year's chocolate workshop (See end for the chocolate workshop review)! To start with, the workshop coordinator was an absolute gem. Her infectious enthusiasm, combined with her expert knowledge, made the entire session fun and educational. She effortlessly guided us through the process of making mouthwatering waffles, ensuring everyone had a hands-on experience. The workshop offered an impressive variety of ingredients, allowing us to customise our waffles to perfection. Whether you're a traditionalist or an adventurous foodie, you'll find everything you need to create your dream waffle. I was particularly thrilled to discover that they offered a vegan option, making the experience inclusive for everyone. While my overall experience was fantastic, I do have one minor criticism. At times, some attendees were rude and spoke over the coordinator during the session. Unfortunately, the coordinator seemed to have difficulty controlling them effectively. However, I want to emphasise that this did not overshadow the overall experience or the coordinator's exceptional skills and knowledge as this was beyond her control. During our stay in Brussels last week (June 2022), I attended this workshop with a friend and it was an amazing experience! A well-organised workshop, with excellent hosts, made for a very engaging and lively experience. We had a great time making our own chocolates and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Belgium. I have attached some images of the chocolate fun!

Really struggled if to give a 4 or 5. What was awesome- great staff providing history and fun learning environment. Also quick to help you fix mistakes. Went home with close to 30 chocolates per person so really an amazing deal considering it’s a class plus chocolate. Would spend the same on just buying chocolate in the city. Easy fun and enjoyable. Highly recommend. The bad - really only one thing but bad enough to loose two stars. The website makes it very clear that you must be at-least 12 years old to participate in the class. I think you have to confirm this 3 times prior to booking and is in bold on your confirmation. Clearly states if under 12 will not be allowed to participate and no refund. A family came with two very young children maybe 4 and 6. They were allowed to stay and participate. They were running around grabbing items off tables, distracting the instructor and made the overall experience bad. Enforce the rules that you set so everyone can enjoy themselves. Failing to enforce the rules makes it bad for all other guest that paid the same price. The only other thing that did not sit well with me is we purchased a large tote bag and there was a large sign that stated 6€ and she tried to tell me it was 20€. Once I pointed to the sign she said she was mistaken and only charged me 6€.

The chocolate workshop was fun and I learned a lot but I would not specifically recommend this place. Our instructor Calypso was very friendly and took care of everyone.

The check in was pretty chaotic because they checked in 3 groups at the same time. In the email it was stated you should come 10 minutes early but not earlier than that. Checking in approx. 50 people within 10 minutes of course didn't work. They had to disentangle the washed aprons and we started 15 minutes late. I personally like to feel welcome, wash my hands and take a seat waiting for the class to start when I take a workshop like this.

Lack in hygiene is what bothered me the most in this workshop. I always wash my hands before preparing food so I did that. There were desinfectant dispenders on the table but the instructor did not advise the group to sanitize or wash their hands before. Everybody prepared their own chocolate but everyone is reaching for nuts and dried fruits from the same plate. Long hair should always be tied when working with food but our instructor Calypso only did so when she started to fill in the praline forms not from the beginning.

So all in all I highly recommend doing a workshop like this but with...
