L'anchois Vert — Restaurant in Brussels

We chose this restaurant for dinner as I'm Italian and was curious to try it. While the food was good, the overall experience was ruined by the owner’s behavior. The waitress, though polite and clearly trying her best, was constantly shouted at by the owner in Italian and Spanish, often using offensive language. It was uncomfortable to witness, especially for other guests, including a family with a child. We had issues with incorrect drinks, were told tap water wasn’t good, and were charged €8 for a 1L bottle. We even overheard the owner making rude comments about our dessert inquiry. The way the waitress was treated was unacceptable and overshadowed the quality of the food. Sadly, we just wanted to leave. When the waitress brought us the correct bill she told us he fired her and would be her last day. We felt for this woman. The food at this restaurant was actually very good, and we were initially looking forward to the experience. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was completely overshadowed by the owner’s unprofessional behavior. He loudly argued with a waitress in front of all the customers, using aggressive language and even shouting that he didn’t care about customers' dessert choices. At one point, he fired the waitress on the spot—again, loudly and publicly—which made the entire dining area tense and uncomfortable.

We also asked for tap water and were told it wasn’t good, so we had to order bottled water. The bottle cost €8 for 1 liter, which felt excessive and unnecessary, especially when many places serve tap water upon request.

In short, while the food was enjoyable, the service and environment were stressful. It’s a shame, because this place has potential—but the management style completely ruins the...

Op het laatste moment besloten om te overnachten in Brussel. Een hotelkamer vinden was niet moeilijk, een pizza daar in tegen... We werden in een chique Italiaans restaurant geweigerd wegens vol geboekt en plaats te kort (het enige wat wij konden waarnemen waren 20 lege tafels en 5 verklede pinguïns aan de toog) . Na enkele minuten door de straten te kuieren, viel mijn oog op het menu van l'anchois Vert dat aan hun gevel hangt. Pizza ... Ik ben een vrouw die weet wat ze wil. Een jonge man verwelkomt ons op een warm en enthousiaste manier. Hij excuseert zich voor het gebrekkige Nederlands maar met een mix van Engels en Frans ontstaat een aangename conversatie. De dame waarmee hij samenwerkt is minstens even hulpvaardig en beschikt over de nodige humor dat het avondmaal dat net ietsje meer geeft. De huiswijn was oke, al verkoos mijn vriend zijn Duveltje. Afsluiten deden we met een echte cappuccino. Mijn vriend verorberde een dame blanche en ik ... Ik smolt weg bij het proeven van de heerlijk huisgemaakte tiramisu. De smaken van de room, amaretto, koekjes.... waren perfect in balans! Samengevat : super bediening en lekker eten. De prijs is een meevaller Conclusie: ik ga er terug naartoe.
