This is more than a critique of poor service. It is a message to the owner of this place: please take a moment to reflect and understand what compassion looks like when someone is truly in need.

I was a tourist in Brussels and came to L’Inattendu with a local friend who was excited to show me the restaurant. Unfortunately, shortly after we got our drinks, my friend experienced a medical emergency and had to be evacuated by ambulance.

While the owner did call the ambulance, what happened next was deeply upsetting. I asked if they could pack up our things to go. Instead of showing any empathy, the owner yelled at me in French and made me pay 26 euros for the starters and drinks, without offering any takeaway containers. She didn’t check on my friend. She didn’t offer water. She didn’t even let us wait outside in peace. When I said “thank you” after paying, she coldly replied “bye bye” with a sour expression. No “get well soon,” no kindness, just plain cruelty.

I can’t speak to the quality of the food, as we never got the chance to eat. But when the heart behind a place is this cold, no dish can make up for it. I sincerely hope the owner reflects on how they treat people. Until then, I cannot recommend supporting...

The venue is beautiful. The chef is good, whereas the service is unprofessional and very rude. It s a disrespectful way to treat customers in a way that they are attacked. After having communicated I don t eat pork, I was given a dish (without mentioning, that there is pork also inside) with duck and pork all over it. I ate 20% of the dish, and the service didn't even bother to ask how I am doing, if they can do anything to help.

When paying the full amount (despite having been given a dish I can t eat), and saying that is a bit unprofessional, the service attacked me by saying they supposedly didn't understand I don t eat pork, and anyhow it s a pork restaurant so it s my fault.

They didn't even bother to convey the impression that it us a pity that the customer had a bad time and couldn't eat anything, they behaved as if the customer is irrelevant.

Such a horrible experience, don t go there if you eat halal; you will be disrespected and ripped of (horrible prices for value).

Hopefully you will change the service and keep your reputation. Very very...

Honestly, the food and wine was good. But shockingly horrible service, the server was really rude when I was asking how Bongo works and trying to find the code for him to scan as it was my first time using it. There was some glitch because it shows that it’s the last day of validity on the box, but on spot I just noticed on the Bongo app that it shows expired, so I was confused. This whole process took maximum 3 minutes only, but he just became super impatient, told us that we are wasting time here and even threw his phone on our table in front of me and said “madame, figure it out yourselfâ€đŸ˜łđŸ€Ż10 minutes later he finally came back to our table to take our order and apologised for his behaviour but still
you don’t treat your customer like that, ever. Maybe he had a bad day, I’m just describing our experience objectively.

So if you want good food but can bear potentially bad service, the risk...

Very old authentic place, proper Belgian «home» food. There are a lot of usual customers. But if you are a tourist who doesn’t speak French, most likely they will refuse you at the door. Waiter is grumpy and often quite tipsy, first it’s funny, but after coulpe hours you get tired of lousy service like that. Anyway, was interesting to dinner here, there are very few places like that with history left in Brussels.

I will never forget about this place, the vibe, food, music, atmosphere, energy, character and Feril. I would be definitely the everyday-goer if I lived in Brussels or they were in my hood in NYC. Everything about this place was so ‘Right there’. Loved Feril’s music video selections very much. Lovely lovely place.
