Chez Béri — Restaurant in Brussels

The food is amazing. Props to the kitchen staff and whoever came up with the recipes. Moist ribs with a marinade that isn't overpowering. Fries were great for a burger place - definitely not soggy or too thin. Amazing and efficient kitchen 🙌

The service was not a total disaster thanks to the female wait staff who was prompt and communicative. The entire visit was let down by the male wait staff who seems to not want to take orders and preferred to man the till, clean tables, chat with male customers/friends, deliver drinks and give out takeaway orders instead of taking orders.

We waited 20 minutes for our order to be taken. Other customers had to approach him to ask for their table's order to be taken. He did not repeat our order which is always a bad sign, and the female wait staff had to come to confirm our order and correct his misunderstanding. His response was defensive and immature.

Overall I think this is a nice operation that's been let down by someone who seem to either be having a bad day or just has a chip on his shoulder. The female wait staff and kitchen staff are amazing.

Edit: the establishment responded that clients are served in order of arrival. They are not the first to have such an approach. But we had 2 groups ahead of us. In 20 mins:

We were seated. We put up our hand to order. The female wait staff told us the male wait staff will take our order. He sees our hand but goes to a group at the back. It's ok we wait. He passes our table and chats with the cashier. He serves drinks to other tables. He cleans up the table next to us. He takes the order of a group outside (they came just before us). He comes to us and asks us to wait a moment. He handles a takeaway order. He delivers more drinks. He chats with a group that has been sitting there. He chats with a separate group sitting outside. The female wait staff makes eye contact with us and assures us he is coming to take our order. He chats with the female wait staff. He delivers some sauces to another group. He takes our order.

It would be nice to not offer a passive aggressive reply without...

Whenever I'm in brussel, I look forward to eat at chez beriz. Their burgers and ribs are to die for. And their burgers are amazing. Especially the montaigne burger. My favorite! The fries are delicious. Overall very delicious food. But after my last visit, I decided that this is going to be my last time visiting this resto. Worst experience ever. But especially very dissapointing. Been there a couple of times and always something. Either there are no ribs, otherwise you have to wait 30min outside. This time they have a system you cant order until the people before you have ordered. So we already know since we left Antwerp what we want to eat and now wehave to wait until person x decided after 15min of doubting what he will eat.

After waiting outside for 20min and waiting 30min inside, i asked for an explanation to the employee who always wears a jogging pants and he doesn't even let me ask the question he says we cant change our system for you. Than another employee comes pulls the man with the jogging pants away and he doesnt even react to what I am saying. After addressing the employee and asking to have a talk with the manager, it gotten heated and we just left.

This is the worst-nonchalant-not-client-friendly service ever.

While Im asking for the manager's number they just guided us outside. And they were saying we can just contact them...

Recently visited Beri at night time, from start I arrived before my group did and was waiting out in the cold as the door said to be patient someone will come tend to you (which is understandable), However +5mins went by and no one came for me and I was signalled from inside to come inside and was assumed that it’d be just me to which I clarified its a group of 13. Upon confirming they gave us 2 tables which were set apart and later we were able to find a place further inside where we had to move some chairs around to get into place. The service had 0 moods of seeing a big table im assuming, then our orders were taken where the waitress told us how she’d take the order (ribs first, burgers 2nd, drinks at end). We had ordered burgers and ribs, for Burgers they tasted really good in contrast to the ribs. I ordered caramelised honey ribs which looks appealing, but lacked in taste which was not what I expected. No flavour of salt nor pepper in the ribs. The caramelised honey taste was there but apart from that the steak tasted like “nothing” is what I would say. The coleslaw as one can see is max 2 bites, the fries were not the best either, average at most.

All in all, service needs to be more welcoming, steak needs a revamp considering the cost of it. Burgers are good so if you’re looking for a good burger they...
