Our visit to LA truffe noir for my wife's birthday with friends was a delightful experience, marked by a wonderful atmosphere and excellent cuisine. **Atmosphere**: The ambiance at LA truffe noir was joyous and inviting, adding a special touch to our small group celebration. The setting, while perhaps not ideal for larger parties, was perfect for our intimate gathering of four, providing a cozy and festive environment. **Cuisine**: The food was a standout feature. Each dish was expertly prepared, showcasing high-quality ingredients and impressive culinary skill. The flavors were exceptional, and the presentation of the meals enhanced our dining experience. **Value for Money**: Considering the combination of the enjoyable atmosphere and the quality of the food, the pricing felt appropriate for our small group. It's a place where the cost aligns with the experience, especially for those looking to enjoy a special occasion in a more intimate setting. **Final Thoughts**: LA truffe noir is a commendable choice for small gatherings looking to celebrate a special event. The restaurant excels in creating a joyous atmosphere and serving excellent cuisine, making it a memorable destination for smaller celebrations.

We had lunch “4 courses”. Please don’t count “amuses bouches” as a course, not professional at all. If I make a friendly remark to the sommelier, please don’t act (very) arrogant. Very unprofessional and spoils the whole experience. Although warm welcome and good overall service. Sorry but sommelier spoiled our lunch, never experienced such an attitude! We ate 2 good courses, 3rd one - dessert - was basic. Thogether with the arrogancy of sommelier will probably explain the lost of a Michelin star. Reaction to the reply of the resautant to my review : Please, don’t make it worse.. 1) I was aware of the menu 2) I made a kind remark that counting appetizers as a course is not done in a gastronomic restaurant. Not more than that. 3) it was the reaction of your sommelier to this remark that made me angry. A simple “I understand” or another professional answer would have been appreciated. 4) if the table next to us had heard the whole conversation from the beginning they would understand.

Unfortunately a bit disappointing. Perhaps my expectation was too high... I previously visited le rabassier, sea grill, brugmann and many other great restaurants with excellent tasting menus, for this meal we picked the Prestige menu, seven dish menu, but with very little protein and too much butter. The carpaccio was the highlight of the meal due to the quality of the ingredients and this is a dish prepared "a la table", the raviolis was good but the remaining dishes weren't enough to justify the very high price of the prestige menu. The Périgord black truffle cooked whole is interesting as a concept but its not a satisfying main course. The desert is pretty to look at but its a fruit salad with coconut icecream. So a wiser choice may be to pick a la carte.

Some brilliant, but very classical and slightly aged, dishes combined with the worst wine pairing I’ve had in my entire life, makes this a mixed visit indeed. As the wine list granted us only either very uninteresting wines (Fontanafredda etc. which I can get in my local market for a smidge of the price in here and cannot say to be on the frontline of quality and tradition amongst Barolos), super overpriced wines or just plain....well, plain wines, we chose the wine pairing menu. It stated itself as the perfect compliment to our food and you’d expect that the somme of a one-star restaurant really had found the perfect combos for your particular dishes here (and not just wanted to get rid of random wine they had in the cellar) Do no do that if you ever visit here! Not only are they seriously serving you what I would describe as “bland supermarket wine from the medium priced shelf” - on a gourmet restaurant - they did not fit with, or complement, any of the dishes. None of them (well, one was actually okay, but totally wrong for the dish...in our perspective). So drink water instead if visiting (though you have to accept that the water is 9€ per half liter bottle, which makes it...well, very much paid for). The bread was dry and old and the butter didn’t taste of anything - as is the norm in most Italian restaurants I’ve been to. I hope some day they’ll start investing in decent bread, but apparently dry stale bread is tradition in Italy :-) Service was nice and attentive and the espresso was good...and the food was tasty, although nothing mind exploding (old school “if in doubt just stack it” or make it super creamy umami and truffle. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not opposed to stacked food and I looooove truffle, but for the price I want more than just the ordinary tricks these things can pull). But the winepairing and “wine selection vs. price”...jesus...that was a huge disappointment. So two stars for those of the dishes that where good....And one gazillion black holes or “negative stars” for the sad sad wine and way too expensive prices...

This was my worst restaurant visit in years! The interior is incredibly outdated, but that's just personal taste. The food is mediocre, and the price-quality ratio is nothing special; the pheasant was really not good. What I found extremely disappointing were the drink prices. The simplest gin and tonic I've ever had cost 17 euros, mostly you get something nice for this price. The regular wine glass was filled with some gin, and a simple Schweppes tonic was supposed to add flavor to the Hendrick’s (with a lemon??). The first Schweppes we received didn't even have any bubbles and was shamelessly replaced with another. The wines were nothing special, and nine (!!!) euros for a cola is really a step too far. We had to constantly ask for some bread, and it definitely wasn’t fresh. An incredibly disappointing experience. I didn't feel like I was dining in a top restaurant, and I will never come back here. I’ve never regretted spending my money more and now I understand why I was able to book just the day before, and the restaurant was nearly empty. Definitely not...
