Shocking behaviour of service staff!

I wanted to give this restaurant a try due to some good reviews on their dikkebroodjes. The restaurant opens at 10am on a Saturday. I walked in at 11:05am to an empty restaurant. A tall bespectacled male staff saw me enter, but immediately turned his back on me.

This being my first time here, I didn't know where to place my order. I sat down for a full five minutes, yet no one approached me or took my order.

It was when other customers started coming in and one placed his order at the counter. I had to walk to the counter to place my order. A blondish female staff smiled at me and took my order. She is the only nice one there.

Then, a tall lady walked in (I presume this could be a former staff). Staff started coming out of the kitchen to greet her, chatted with her and even sat with her. What happened to my order?

Then a lady with a dog walked in. Two kitchen staff came out to pet the dog with both hands! Their hands went all over the dog's body. Truly, I wanted to vomit when I saw it. I immediately stood up to get a better view of whether they would wash their hands after petting the dog. My order still hadn't arrived.

One of them then took out a seat next to the aforementioned tall lady, and placed her hands on the counter top, and chatted away with the tall lady. Hands not washed for at least a few minutes (and I don't know if they were washed in the end). I pity the next person who is going to sit there.

The other kitchen staff who patted the dog is male, with a bandage on one of his hands. I don't know how willing he would be to wash his hands and wet the bandage.

I had seen enough. I cancelled my order of the dikkebroodjes. I paid for my coffee and left.

This restaurant gave me a very bad impression of service standards and especially hygiene in a Belgian restaurant.

Beware! No matter how nice the dikkebroodjes might be, no point getting...

I walked in as a tourist from London (I do speak French). The decor and the music were great, and the crew was the hipster type, young and smiling. After sitting down, though, I was totally ignored for a good 20 minutes. When I managed to grab the attention of a waiter, he explained that they do not have a menu. You have to look at a board high up above the counter, which was totally confusing. I ordered the brunch menu which is a staggering 25€ for what turned out to be a pile of bread with a minuscule glass of hummus and a simingarly minuscule glass of granola, plus some very limited amount of jam and some scrambled eggs laid out on a soggy toast. Drinks were not included. I ordered a coffee which never arrived. I asked for some water which was not brought to the table after the meal (had to ask again). The waiter seemed inexperienced and did break a glass a meter from me. I found the experience disappointing. The choice of food is very limited, and way overpriced. Might be nice for a coffee after the market, but for food I would...

A great cafe-brewery. The food speciality is Dikkebroodjes. Come here in the morning and have a nice breakfast as there is a very nice second-hand market and have a lot of fun 😁 The property here is very spacious and can take up to 200 people at a time Everyone here is lovely and business-oriented and will serve at the best level. Summary: great atmosphere, lovely food and great for bi gathering 😍 A note: the food will stop completely between lunch and dinner time and that is how you know this place always prepares to provide the best quality for their customers 😊 Highly...

Everything here is home-made and delicious including the BEER! I just needed a place to grab a quick bite and chill out before my train home… this place totally surprised me. First of all when I walked in, the home-cooked smell emanating from everyone’s table made my mouth water… and soon I found out they were sold out of almost everything (so it must be good). All they had left was this rediculously delicious focaccia with pesto, mushroom, egg and cheese. And squash soup with sour dough. Washed it all down with their own nitro espresso stout. Mmmmmmmmmmmm. Cant wait to go back.
