Mokafé Taverne — Restaurant in Brussels

Never had this bad of an experience anywhere in the world and that says something.

We decided to pick a Breakfastset containing of a croissant, a piece of baguette, a bit cutlet, Marmelade, butter, cheese, orange juice and coffee.

First of all: the service took super long and was unnecessarily rude. Without asking what we would like to have since they "ran out of the ham and croissant" (an hour after they opened but okay and only one other couple mIa) we were presented each with a piece of broken, uncut baguette with 2 slices of cheese and a bit of butter and was informed the minute we had the plate infront of us. We munched on these cheese baguettes just to get over it and not once did one of the waiters came out to ask if anything is fine. Even after we ate our cheese baguettes and wanted to leave, waiters no where... So I stepped inside just to see them lean and talk and I paid and left furious.

THE ULTIMATE TOURIST TRAP.

Stopped in on a Sunday at around 11 am for a quick light bite to eat. I ordered the tartine fromage, which was the most pathetic excuse of a cheese sandwich I’ve ever seen. It was literally one cheese slice sandwiched in between two slices of old bread. Airplane sandwiches are gourmet compared to this one. If that wasn’t bad enough, after I ate half, I FOUND A BUG IN IT! The waiter tried to run off right after offering to replace it but no way did I want another one. My husband ordered an omelette, which took forever to come out. It came out after we found the bug in the sandwich, and the omelette didn’t look anymore appetizing. It was dry and overcooked. We were already turned off from earlier but still, he braved a few bites before we just paid for our disgusting...

Was our last day in Brussels, brother was looking for a Belgian waffle we originally came to this location for the Ethiopian coffee house that was next to it.

Brother ordered the Banana and Chocolate Waffle and i ordered a Tomato and Cheese Omelet. The waffle was amazing, the chocolate was a semi-sweet dark chocolate just like a chocolate chip cookie. it came with sliced bananas one per square and powdered sugar. it was crispy and definitely freshly made.

The tomato omelet was also good, just scrambled eggs and tomatoes folded over. It came with a side salad that was also really good, i didn't know it came with it so it was bonus. after trying both i actually am super glad it came with the salad as that turned out to be my favorite part.
