La Belgique Gourmande — Local services in Brussels

Terrible service and terrible English by the staff. They don’t even know what a tax refund is and asked us what is tax-funded and why we need it.

We went there on 14 Aug 2023 at 22:00. We bought 59€ and 13€ respectively and we told them we needed to take the chocolates on the plane and asked if they had any box provided. They just replied to us we don’t have a box but only those small white boxes (for free-choosing chocolates in the shop) but we may need to take 24 boxes to contain all our items finally just gave us a paper bag and even asked us why they this bag cannot take to the plane?

Come on! Do you think a paper tag could keep the items in good condition over the flight from here to Asia like 15 hours+ to our guests? Use your brain to provide services professionally, please!

Besides, we noticed that they have other nice bags that can keep their chocolate in nice condition with some isolated layer inside to other customers but they just gave us a paper bag for over 70€ to Asian customers! They even told us need extra charge or even paid for the nice bag.

I strongly do NOT recommend this brand or even this particular branch to buy the chocolate if you are Asian! They just keep chatting with each local customer who can speak their language in the paying queue, but not others else. At least, I don’t think they really care about other international travellers! Honestly, I don’t think this branch or brand is up to the standard to serve international travellers all over the world.

I was extremely disappointed with my recent experience at this chocolate shop. The quality of the chocolates was below expectations, the display was terrible (chocolates were not covered properly and open to any sneezes and airborne germs and what not) and the packaging was equally poor. I opted for the self-service option, but the packaging couldn't even survive the short walk out of the store.

I attempted to raise my concerns by contacting both their instagram accounts and the store’s phone number, but unfortunately, neither reached me back. I also asked the cashier to improve the packaging, and she simply added a small piece of tape, which did nothing to address the issue. It felt like a stingy and unhelpful response.
