A group of friends and myself headed to this place on Belgian National Day evening to have a few drinks and eat some food. We enjoyed the atmosphere at first, but we rapidly became disillusioned : we sensed a lack of amiability from the first waitress who served us, but nothing worth complaining about. Nonetheless, once we had ordered food, all the waiters suddenly disappeared. Were they hiding from the clients? Such a shame as many of us would have loved to order more drinks and/or food. However, I cannot find words to explain how SHOCKED I was when I overheard a staff conversation on my way to the bathroom, bantering about how annoying our table was. I don't remember my group of friends being loud, disrespectful, nor unpolite. But the cherry on the cake definitely was the staff girl who yelled a relieving (for her and her colleagues I assume) "Finally!" when I told her we were leaving, locking the door right behind us as the last member of our group had barely stepped outside. Note to the manager here : if you don't want to work/are not ready to serve your clients in the same quality you usually do, please don't open your business on a holiday. You disappointed a bunch of people who used to...
Read moreAfter finding out at my hotel that my phone wasn’t in my briefcase anymore and watching it on my Laptop screen unexpectedly moving through Brussels on its own [thanks to Google's 'Find Your Phone' service], it finally stopped at The Wild Geese.
I sprinted through Brussels evening traffic to this place and ended up in a bar with super friendly waiters but the music far too loud to hear my phone ring.
I politely asked the guy behind the bar (Neil?) if he could turn down the volume for a second so I could localise my mobile. He refused saying that he won't sacrifice the crowd in his bar over my phone.
Ok, I can understand this from an economic point of view, from a personal point of view I found him, contrary to his staff, very disappointing and for sure this is not a place I’d suggest anyone to go (unless they are supernatural and won’t ever lose a phone or something else and thus hope on the help of someone else to find it).
PS: Fortunately friends had taken my phone after I had left it on the meeting table. I found out when writing an email to my employer informing them about the...
Read moreExpensive and very rude staff. I went with a group of friends. The first server took my order for a Coca Light. Another woman came to bring me a Coke Zero. I told her I ordered a Coca Light. She said it's the same thing. I told her it's not. She rudely said "Nothing to do with me, it's not my secton." and put the bottle on the table. I was shocked and embarrassed at how she spoke to me. My friends told me when they came in the barman was unwelcoming too and the staff didn't seem happy.
A third server brought me my food and she was perfectly professional. The portions are small. I had soup and fat chips as I didn't fancy the vegetarian dish on the menu. The chips were more like wedges. Not my expectation of Irish style chips. The food was very expendive. 7€ for soup.
The décoré is nice, but I...
