You may go here Umamido, Merode, with confidence if you do not have skin pigmentation. We (African and South Asian) went here on April 8th around 5:30 p.m. Other than one other gentleman eating outside we were the only 2 guests. We ordered 2 dishes. My friend requested his dish to be spicy. The waiter (a tall white guy) brought our order out. We asked for hot sauce and he rudely replied that it is an additional 2 euros. We said okay (although we had never heard of additional charges for hot sauce). Then we also asked for forks (very nicely). The waiter came back with the forks which he almost threw at us. We also asked for water -- at which time he rudely replied "you have to pay for the water!" Of course, we said, we know we have to pay for the water! We were not street beggars there -- looking for free food and water!!! He was simply nasty. My ramen was insipid at best! My friend enjoyed his dish. When I went to pay (as he was not even coming with the bill), I was charged for 2 orders of hot sauce. Confused, I said I only ordered 1 hot sauce. He tells me that since my friend asked for extra spicy they consider that as one order. Never have I heard of this -- I have travelled the world over and this is the first time. Even Hanoi in Merode has many bottles of siracha for your dining pleasure. Please go to Umamido Merode at your own risk. They do not like to serve you if you do not look white. The price of the ramen was too much for such a small bowl of insipid noodles. Never going...

While the ambiance and interior of Umamido Mérode were appealing, our overall dining experience was disappointing.

Miso Chin Tan Ramen: The broth was weak and not hot at all. I ordered it spicy (which costs extra), but it was not spicy in the slightest. When I asked about it, I was told to pay an additional 1 EUR for more spice, which was a tiny amount and still not spicy. The dish lacked the expected richness and creaminess.

Fried Chicken Donbun: This dish was way below average. It wasn’t hot, lacked sufficient sauce, and the meat was extremely dry. Definitely not worth the 17.80 EUR price tag.

-Veggie Tan Tan: This was the most disappointing dish. It had very few vegetables and tofu, and the food was not hot. We had a long wait for our order, and the dish lacked flavor.

The only redeeming aspect of our meal was their beer – which was okay. Overall, our experience was not what we had hoped for, and we left feeling dissatisfied. We hope the restaurant can address these issues for...

The place is nice, you have the option to eat/drink inside or outside!! Is a bit narrow due to the location but I think for that being the case, there's enough tables. Important: there are outlets/sockets inside to charge your phone (connect your charger) soooo +1🌟 for that!! 💚🙌🏻... The waitress (I'm not sure if is good to share her name 😅🤔 I won't do it just if you guys give me the permission) was really kind and guideful to me, she helped me deciding between the drinks, and explained me more about some of the dishes I'm not familiar with (yeah I'm new to japanese food xD don't judge me, in my city I think there's no place xD), even if she was a bit busy she gave some time to help me and she was very attentive (she noticed when I already wanted to order sth regardless the amount of tables she was serving to)! 😊 good service!! A friend of mine recommended this place, she was correct about the place! 😄 You can see the menu from the street, and when you go to a table they hand...

We had a wonderful evening at this restaurant. The interior looks very atmospheric, orange walls and posters in Japanese. We were greeted by a friendly host and seated at our table. The menu has vegetarian options, and the option to choose chicken or pork. There are small appetizers, ramen, and rice bowls. Good selection of drinks. We received the best service from the server Celia, she offered us printed photos of the finished dishes, which really matched the finished version, and also helped us choose the dish, based on the taste descriptions. The ramen was simply delicious, a large plate with delicious broth, juicy chicken and egg. Thank you, we were very satisfied. We will come again!

While I appreciate the interior and the quality of ingredients, this is by no means authentic Japanese tonkotsu ramen. It lacks richness and creamyness of pork broth that you can find in this dish in Japan (Ichiran Ramen). It says it's cooked for 12 hours but either it's way undercooked or too little pork bone was used to release the aroma and thickness from collagen and marrow. So don't be fooled and if you really want to experience real tonkotsu ramen in Brussels please avoid this place and head for Koku Ramen even if you had to wait for a table in a line, it's really worth of it.
