Akropolis — Restaurant in Hasselt

Ate here with two workmates, and liked it.

I had a mixed grill, which consisted of chicken, lamb, kebab meat (shaved) and a skewered kebab accompanied with a minor garnish, dollop of tzaziki and two scoops of a tomato rice. All meals were served with a Greek side-salad, crisp fresh salad with olives and a tiny block of feta atop, which offset the succulent grilled flavour of the meat well.

I felt the dish was pretty huge for what I paid - there was plenty of meat to go around that I grew full quickly. There was an issue with the wine we ordered - although it was supposed to be traditional and an acquired taste, it was unlike what was expected so we switched it. Just be warned those unused to some traditional Greek tastes may be surprised or shocked!

The other issue was post-dinner; once we'd eaten, the waiter seemed to forget completely about us. I was happy to stay for more drinks but given we were kept waiting, I had to stroll around and hunt him down (he was sitting by the till, fixated on his phone) so paid up and left.

It won't deter me from eating there again, but next time I'll pick a seat in view of the till so I don't have to go looking...

We recently revisited this Greek restaurant after not having been there since before the pandemic. Unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. The restaurant had been closed for some time during the pandemic, and it seems that the quality of the food and service has declined since its reopening. The meat we ordered had a noticeable smell and was undercooked, which made it difficult to enjoy. The fries were also not up to par, lacking in flavor and texture. The small salad that came with our meal was unremarkable and did not add much to the overall experience. To make matters worse, the prices were quite high given the poor quality of the food. Overall, I was not satisfied with my visit and would not recommend this restaurant in its current state. To illustrate how good this restaurant is, I will tell you a quick story. I went there with two Turks. They both said the haloumi was the best they've ever had. Every item that we ordered was amazing and cooked to perfection. Service with a smile. We had an issue with our cards and they were patient and friendly throughout the entire process. The ouzo was amazing and I would recommend anything on the menu. I had souvlaki, calamari, feta dip, ouzo, and haloumi....
