Het Strand — Restaurant in Leuven

Decent selection of beer. Sitting outside on a summer evening is pleasant (picture of the view below), the inside looks kind of cheap and unfinished, though. Fingerfood: I only tried the bread with spread, which was not bad. The desserts did not look good. I would go back only if sitting outside was an option.

UPDATE: I am going to raise my rating of this place, as upon a second and third visit I noticed some nice improvements in the interior and most of all, the food (all vegetarian and vegan) is well prepared and presented (I am not vegetarian and I still enjoyed it). Beer and cocktail selection is nice, too. One request though: I know the menu changes often, so it is not viable to print copies every day, but going to the blackboards to check what is available is a mood breaker for many. Why not implement a QR code to scan at the table, directing to a web version...

Lovely discovery in a modern and clean pedestrian oasis near the centre of Louvain. Very cosy and hipster atmosphere just screaming to take pictures. A warm mix of tropic plants and all different wooden furniture right out a second hand store really sets the right mood. There is a lot of place inside as well as outside and still you don’t get the feeling that the place is overcrowded. The menu offers always a different choice of vegan and veggie dishes which taste amazing. The prices are considerably low in comparison with other restaurants nearby which explains the presence of many young students and families. the staff is very young and charming. A place to remember! Terrific food here in reasonable prices (in Belgian terms at least..). The restaurant is inside a courtyard, on the left side. Notice that it gets pretty busy and loud around 8 and a bit hard to get a table, but you can also sit on the bar in the meanwhile. Also, my order took quite some time.

Regarding the food, I had a comforting and very generous pumpkin soup and the lentil lenguine, which is a creative vegan interpretation of Bolognaise. Everything tasted great and was very filling and fun. Their desserts also look very tempting (but I was too full this time...). Overall, a great place for...
