Medina Leuven — Restaurant in Leuven

Five years back I was in Leuven and I went to a Moroccan restaurant. The memory I have apart from the delicious Tazine recipe, was an accompaniement of coriander leaves dressed olives with Duvel. When I asked for the drinks menu here, I was told that the owner being a Moroccan, doesn't serve alcoholic drinks. But the warm tea served kind of stopped me being sad. That was heavenly. We had some appetizers, one Brinjal based that was good. Rest were okay but had a homely flavour. The couscous was okayish for us. I have tasted better. The tazines ( Lamb, Chicken and Kofta) were something we were looking forward to. The chicken one with olives was bitter. My friend could hardly eat that. Rest of the ones were delicious. As this is the only Moroccan restaurant in the town, we definitely want to visit again. Perhaps next time we will have...

I loved my experience here. Although I do recommend you to go there when you're absolutely not constrained by time. The owner of the restaurant greets you at the entrance, cooks the food himself and serves you at your table. In other words, he does everything all by himself. It might be a good idea to reserve beforehand, but if you do have to wait for a table, you can enjoy a sweet cup of mint tea. The mint tea is served with your meal as well. The price is very reasonable. In fact we didn't have to pay for some of the accompanying dishes. There is a vegetarian option, but that one might leave you a bit hungry. Overall a great experience, the owner was an extremely friendly and joyful man. He speak Dutch, Arabic and some basic English too. Enjoy...

This is a special restaurant which makes you feel in Morocco. It is located close to the center of the city . The deco is very original and nice (if it wasn’t for the location, I could believe that I am in the heart of Marrakech ;) ).The food is fresh and tasty. I have tried different dishes and so far all of them have been reaallyyyy good. It is perfect to go with groups of friends and family and it is also cozy to go with that special person... :) The price is really good (not belgian average). I have been few times and I have paid less than 14 always. And you can have a delicious homemade mint tea for free :)

The owner of the place is very nice and kind and he can speak many languages.

Este peculiar restaurante se encuentra cerca del centro de Lovaina, como casi todo en esta histórica ciudad belga. Y aunque no se encuentra en la zona principal de bares y restaurantes, es muy fácil llegar. Tienen una carta de platos deliciosos al estilo marroquí, desde el típico tajín a unas deliciosas “albóndigas “ y cuscús con verdura y la carne que más te apetezca( cordero, pollo...).

También ofrecen platos para compartir a modo de entrantes.

El restaurante en sí es bastante acogedor y si no fuera por la ubicación, podría creer que está en pleno centro de Marrakech.

Lo único es que no se ofrecen bebidas comerciales pero, no desesperes, a cambio ofrecen un te casero de menta que está increíble y agua (gratisssss).

La verdad es que cada vez que voy procuro probar un plato distinto y por ahora todos están riquísimos.

El precio es de lo mejorcito para ser Bélgica ( media de 12€ por persona).

El dueño es muy amable y sabe hablar holandes, francés, inglés....
