Haute cuisine for brasserie prices. The best place I have ever visited in Belgium in terms of price/quality.
Small menu that changes with the seasons and that still has quite a few vegetarian and vegan options (e.g., last winter they had vegan cake).
There is a beautiful terrace outside. Service can be slow at times, but this is a worthy price to pay for a staff that is super relaxed and very, very friendly.
Edit 7 years later (Nov 2025): everything is mostly still the same, except that prices have risen perhaps a little more than inflation would account for. In return, service is much faster now, yet still extremely relaxed and friendly. Be sure to try out the free lollipops;...

Their set menu is on the small side, but they have a daily menu that is market and season specific, and has something for everyone. The drinks menu is classic Belgian with lots of beer and wine, some specials and on tap, and a variety of soda's, ice teas, etc. Watch out, though, because in the evening it also becomes the favourite hang out for everyone in the neighborhood and the tables and bar fill up fast. Read moreLocated just outside of Leuven's city center, this little cafe annex restaurant is a well kept secret of Leuven's locals. This place is open when most others are closed, and offers a quick bite or a full meal throughout the day. The food is offered at democratic prices (ranging between around 8 - 15€ for a main course) without impact on the quality. There's always a wide selection of drinks, with a regularly changing beer and tea menu (look at the blackboard on the wall). The interior is straight and dotted with little art pieces. Be sure to be on the lookout for some of Flanders local celebrities who are known to...
