Visited this place with my husband today. The food was AMAZING. The best Mexican food we had in a very long time. We ordered two mains (Enchilada Pollo & Tacos Pollo) and an appetizer (Nachos Horno?). The portions were really generous. We ate in the restaurant and had had half of our mains for takeaway. It was a pleasant experience and I strongly recommend you visit this restaurant if you crave a nice Mexican meal.

When I'm not going for a new restaurant experience La Cantina del Coronel always pops up as one of the options. I've tried a handful of their dishes my favorites being: Chili con carne and enchilada con Pollo. The fajitas are also really nice with fresh beaf and vegetables. If you're a meat lover and like big portions you won't be disappointed here.

Huge disappointment! Expected fire and got water. The mole poblano was tasteless. But the portion was huge - but I could only finish half as if tasted… nothing. The salmon ceviche? Hmmmm not a ceviche. Send in Gordon Ramsey to train the kitchen . And a Mexican restaurant that can not prepare a normal Margarita? Only frozen ones available

Went with my family for a good dining experience but it was genuinely ruined by a male staff member because of his rude and threatening behavior. Reason being we ordered 2 dishes instead of 3 and he could have made more money from other clients then from us (he literally said these words). Never faced anything of this sort in belgium before. What a welcoming gesture.

Moving on to better things, food portion size is quite good. Location is right at the center of Leuven, easily accessible by all means. Other members in the staff...

The food is mediocre, and the menu repetitive and unimaginative. The place looks unfinished, with plaster fixes on the wall, and the overall atmosphere feels like a community kitchen hall, due to bad lightning and seating arrangements. They are also understaffed, with only one person serving the dining area, which has more than 25 couverts, and one bartender, meaning you have to wait quite a while before being helped. Beyond that, the food is eatable and the cocktails nice, but honestly not...

Make yourself a favor and don't go there. The food is really bad. Out-of-date (not crunchy) nachos, tasteless guacamole, and a mix of starters that can only be defined as a kafkaesque mix of leftovers, margarita that tastes like the product I use to desinfect my WC, mediocre fajitas, and all of this for INSANELY high prices.
