I've lived in and went to school in Japan. I lived with a 70yo sushi chef at one point. I ate it twice a day for free, made by a chef who made sushi 365 days a year his entire life. Now, let's begin by saying that all sushi in Belgium is garbage to begin with. The best in Belgium is as good as refrigerated night-shop sushi in Japan. A solid 6/10. But I find this place to put up a valiant, good effort. It's definitely delicious, they put effort into presentation, the restaurant itself is very nice to sit in, takeaway is timely and the people are friendly. They also had the best quality affordable sushi of all of Leuven, with the 'student promo'. This was 42 pieces for 25 euros. This was an unrivalled piece-to-euro ratio, and they don't even use hosomakis to skew this ratio! Unfortunately, they have upped this promo all the way up to 32 euros for 42 pieces now. Still, the best deal I've come across in Leuven. In summary, everything is good. This is my go-to sushi...
Read moreVery slow service, poor quality food. We had 5 waitresses serving us but all were refearing to the original one to take the order. We were very suprised as the restaurant in the cities centre did not have an English menu, so we could not order anything from it. We decided to go for the dishes which you can not go wrong. Ordered California sushi roll, two soups, seaweed salad and giyoza. Two soups came at different times then we had to wait for around 30 min for the rest of the food. California came with chicken, so when I questioned it, they accused us that we ordered it that way, however I have never knew that these type of rolls exist. The pot of Green tea for six euros was cold that it could not brew. Chicken giyozas, which is a starter, came only when we asked for the bill. When the bill came for 18 euros it was taken back for adjustments. Apperently another waitress took half of our order which was not added. If you want to spoil your evening, please...
Read moreThe staff was really friendly, but the meal took absolutely forever to arrive. We were a party of 6 and they had forgotten one starter. The missing starter was served 20 minutes after everybody else had finished their starter already. For the main, some had sushi and other a hot meal. The hot meals were served about 20 minutes before the sushi as well. Furthermore the menu says "tuna steak" and "Irish steak", which 2 of our fellow eaters had ordered. The meat arrives in small individually fried pieces though and was far too done in both cases (asked for medium and seignant). They did offer us a complimentary snack between the starter and the main and the coffees were on the house. That turned it into a much better experience altogether. The food itself was a little bit bland perhaps, not very authentic Japanese, but like I said at the start, the staff are really what scored the...
