Leuven Public Library Tweebronnen — Attraction in Leuven

Ive lived in leuven for my entire life. During the block period they shifted to reservation systems. This didnt use to be the case. This is already the only library i can study in leuven as a resident that is no longer studying at KUL and now its fully reserved by non leuven citizen students

This is a public library. It should be first come first serve. Instead they changed it to accomdate people who aren't even from leuven.

As someone with autism who has used libraries since middle school as the only place i can study its extremely bad that you need to reserve a spot 3 weeks in advance now. This is not fair. A fair system is first come first serve. I show up to an empty library and am told im not allowed to study because all these empty slots are 'reserved'.

These kind or systems are already implemented in all the other libraries i used to study at. It makes it harder to do everything. This was the only place i still went to but they added stupid rules here as well now. You should not be able to reserve a spot online. If you're not there in person you don't deserve to have it kept for you. Nobody asked for this extra beurocracy, and this is the single reason i stopped using other libraries. Every other library i used to be able to study with a vistors card or jusy walk in is blocked off for students of that university now. Even at times theres nobody in the library, and now they added that system to the only public library i could still study at.

Stop reserving public spaces for students! first come first serve is the only fair system.

I got called a racist for saying a public leuven library should be for leuven taxpayers and not students from other cities that can still use the libraries in their own municipalities.

This reservation nonsense needs to be removed already. Worst thing that came out of covid and it has been detrimental...

Though there are some nice library workers in the library, for a long time I felt that this was the most costumer unfriendly place in town. I have had countless experiences with books that I reserved and just found sitting on the shelf but was not allowed to check out because it was reserved by someone else first (then why is it sitting on the shelf?) And books that fell apart as soon as we took them home and for which we then had to pay, and books/ dvds that are impossible to find in the catalogus. Try and find a season 7 of a dvd series: the catalogue will serve you up all possible versions of the Seven Sisters series, but your dvd is nowhere to be found. One of the more frustrating experiences were 1) my 8 year old son bawling his eyes out because the book he had been waiting for for months (and had on reserve) was just sitting on the shelf, but we were not allowed to check it out, the lady at the desk was adamant and not sympathetic to my son’s tears at all. 2) during the COVID period you had to go to the desk to pick up reserved books, and i quickly hopped on over during my lunch break . There were two workers there, one was arranging books and the other one was helping the other costumer in front of me. The person arranging the books, did not come to help me , even though there was some situation with the other costumer that took more then 10 minutes to resolve. When finally the costumer was finished, the worker who had been helping him, didn’t even acknowledge me, but started moving books from a card to a shelf! I had been waiting more than ten minutes already!! The costumer unfriendliness was sickening! I finally asked the worker is she could see me, and if so, could she please help me?
