Domus — Restaurant in Leuven

The reviews on this restaurant were overall good, so imagine our shock when my group of friends dined here and we were treated with a rudeness that was completely uncalled-for by the waiters.

I ordered a cheese burger and asked the waiter before ordering to make sure I would be getting a beef patty made from ground beef (steak haché), and not the processed meat. He impatiently dismissed my question. I was served, what I call in my head, the nasty patty. I could not eat this sandwich and hence wasted money. The waiter did not bat an eye when he took away our plates, mine with the untouched nasty patty.

Our waiter was extremely rude to us when we were paying our bill. He refused to accept our separate payments because "it's already busy enough as it is for that. Figure it amongst yourselves." he yelled at us. He was very impatient, hostile and irritated.

Based on this experience, we will not be returning to this restaurant.

Please, if you would like to enjoy your experience at a restaurant, go somewhere else and avoid the hostile waiters. There are plenty of other restaurants up the street who would be happy to have...

We were here several times, especially for draft beers. The quality of the food is always poor, except for the chicken wings which are wonderful. However, the waiters are pretentious, really mean (!!!), not nice at all. The time before we were brutally chased out of the restaurant at about 10pm: there was an elderly person from the University who didn't even have time to put on his jacket. Tonight we were chased out without being served: the restaurant was open, it was crowded and we were told but very nastily that the restaurant is full, although there were many free tables. We asked if it was possible to come later; answer: no! Just a drink? Not possible. Finally, another waiter offered to take a table and wait 30 minutes! We agreed. But finally we were accused of not respecting the waiters... That's crazy! We had a wasted evening and unacceptable behaviour. That is inhuman! Avoid this restaurant which is completely ruined by the staff. Extremely nasty looks and angry eyes. Let's hope there will be a profound change on the part of the...

We had a special family lunch today and it was fabulous. Our waiter was really friendly and efficient. We chose to sit inside because the wind was strong and chilly, despite the sunshine. We got our food and drinks relatively quickly after ordering.

We started out with two platters of appetisers so that everyone had enough - all were tasty and there were several sauces to choose from. Most of us got the stoofvlees (Flemish beef stew) made with one of the Domus beers, although there was one order of steak, and one vol-au-vont (chicken and gravy). Several of us also had a soup course with a delicious mushroom soup made with another of the Domus beers. Everyone was happy with their meal, and the beers were delicious. Three of us split a crème brûlée made with a third kind of Domus beer.

All in all, a lovely, big family lunch. It was so good, I forgot to get many...
