We went in without a reservation and accompanied by our Golden Retriever, and yet, they found us a table. The place got progressively busier as the evening progressed. I don't think there were any empty tables by the time we left.

I'm mentioning the ample patronage, because I found it extremely odd that so many people would choose to come to a restaurant which, we thought, was rather poor. We love a good steak. When we lived in Moscow, we used to go to Goodman's, where we had some of the best Wagyu ever. DOOR nr. 8 in Vienna. A little farm-to-table place next-door to where we live now. So, it's not without understanding or a lack of discernment that we say that the meat at La Valaisanne is really, really poor quality. We tried the Black Angus and the Brazilian steak, and they were both massive let-downs, full of fat and gristle, and almost tasteless. And the cooking process? They bring you a volcanic slab of rock, highly heated, and the raw meat - the rest is up to you, the paying customer... Total rip-off.

I prefer to have the people I pay for the purpose to cook the meal for me. And I also prefer my meat, well, meaty, rather than gristly. So, this was a big disappointment for us. We...

This restaurant is quite an experience that I would recommend to try at least once. You will get decent portions. Meat and fish are served on a hot stone plate, so you can decide yourself how well you want it made. They also serve cheese fondue, which I find quite unique - I do not know of any other restaurant that actually serves this in this area.

Personally I would prefer the food to be made for me instead of me having to work with it and hope it will be edible. However as I said, it can be a fun experience. I can understand if some people are not a fan of this style of serving though, but there are alternative dishes in this case.

If a lot of people are ordering food on a hot stone plate, you will probaby smell of kitchen at the end of the evening. The restaurant is also a bit on the expensive side, but the quality is great.

The staff is very friendly and if you can only speak English, they will assign someone to your table who is able to speak English as well. Most people do not like to speak English in this area, especially in Liège. So I would say well...

The service is very good. Lovely lady who explained what the dishes were. Everything we ate was amazing. I didn’t realize I could be so satisfied from salad, but I was. We finished the meal with some complimentary schnapps - amazing. If we pass by Liege, we will definitely come again. This restaurant also appears to be one of the busiest on the mall, so it looks to be also very popular with the locals

We reserved before going. We ordered off-menu typical Belgian food: “Tartiflette”. It was absolutely DELICIOUS!! The portions were generous and was like homemade cooking! We ordered a bottle of white wine as well to go with it. We were four and honestly price to food ratio was just perfect. We were well served. The waiters were very friendly. Would definitely recommend again!
