It was without any doubt our worst dinner experience in Liège, our worst dinner experience in Belgium, or in fact - our worst dinner experience anywhere in many years. The price pretends to be upscale, but in fact is a rip-off. We came to celebrate, some 15 mins ahead of their dinner serving time. We ordered two glasses of wine, informing the waitress that we will be ordering more later. We got the wine. We ordered water (it was a very warm day) and we got it as well. Then we waited until their dinner serving time (7pm) and made our order, an appetizer and a main course. We never got an apperizer. We waited and waited, watched the waitresses simulating activity while ignoring us. Then a waitress (not the one that took our order) came and very quickly collected our wine glasses neither proposing more or giving us no chance to order more. Yet another waitress brought a basket with three (yes, 3) pieces of bread. Then the waitress came and brought our main course. When we inquired about the appetizer, she just shrugged and said that she made mistake and delivered it to another table. No appologies were offered. As the main course was on the table, we decided to forget it and enjoy the dinner. That proved impossible though: the beef was basically completely raw (nobody asked us how we wanted it done) and it wast mostly fat and veins anyway, and the potatoes (all three pieces) were obviously undrecooked. We ate some of it, but couldn't finish. When during the payment I politely voiced my rather serious disappointment with the experience, I was offered not even a shred of appologies. Basically they wanted us to pay and go. My wife was eplicitly told that we basically did not deserve better, because we spoke English and not French. That despite the fact that the waitresses understood us perfectly well, until they messed up our order. We travel a lot, worldwide, and we never had such a disappointing dinner experience so far. SHAME ON...

At first we told the Waiter table for 2 and he suddenly asked us, if we got a reservation. We told him that we don't have a reservation and he replied right away that he cannot accommodate us because it is already fully booked. So i decided to check the website. Wallah!! We got a reservation and we went back to the restaurant. We told him we got a reservation and he welcomed us with unfriendly face. But in the end, we enjoyed our drinks.
So it means the waiter lied to us. I don't know for what reason. That's a little bit awkward and embarrassing to your restaurant.
Just a reminder: if you want to work in restaurant you need to be friendly with the costumer. If not maybe you should change your job.
Additional disappointment: I'm putting this review again after 3 hrs i posted the first part of my review, because someone called me from this restaurant. I don't know who and told me why I wrote that kind of review and he cannot understand. He told me that his waiter is alone at that time, that's why he cannot accommodate us, so that's why the Waiter told us they are fully booked. He even told me. When someone tells the customer that they are fully booked. The customer goes to the other restaurant. But when we went there the tables were empty. He even told me the waiter was having a bad day or under pressure because he was alone, but he even greeted the other customers, who can speak french with a smile.
They called me extra to tell me what I should do as a customer instead of telling an apology on what happened. That's a little bit disturbing.
P.s next time unable the reservation or blocked the booking service before telling the customer that you are fully booked. Be professional
I'm writing this, because i want you guys to learn from your mistakes. So next time you...
Read moreThe worst restaurant experience ever. We came with my husband, to celebrate. We were ahead of their dinner serving time, and waited patiently for 20 minutes to be served. Let’s try to be brief. They delivered our appetizer to a different table; then they brought our main course - beef. It was inedible - completely raw (nobody even asked how well done we wanted it), full of thick veins etc. We couldn’t even cut it. Meanwhiie, the server’s helper took out wine glasses without even saying a word. When we complained, they refused to offer us anything in lieu of the appetizer we never got. or the wine we never got a chance to order. Here comes the best part - they refused to talk to us, because WE DIDN’T SPEAK FRENCH. Welcome to Wallonia and Liege. I’m going somewhere else, ASAP. Just to note, I am Canadian, I understand language issues. But that was so incredibly rude and cold. I’ve never seen anything like it, and I have been around, a lot. And the waitress actually understood us all right, it was just an excuse. Yesterday, we went to a simple crepe place and the manager came out especially to ask if we were happy and if got all that we wanted. So French is not required for customer service. Just at Le Danieli. Don’t go if you don’t speak French. And if you do,...
