Tenshi Stockel — Restaurant in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre - Sint-Pieters-Woluwe

We visited this restaurant for several years now and have always been satisfied with the service & quality of the food. Yesterday, however, we had a quite different experience. Why write if this only happened 1 time? Because of the change of concept.

Tenshi's interior is nice and cosy with different table sizes ranging from bar tables and places unto 10-12 persons.

The waiters were inexperienced and the service slow. The house wine was not available, neither the normal sake (!) - hey, we are in a Japanese restaurant!

The real problem with Tenshi, however, is their concept: it is a takeaway with a restaurant attached. It means that when takeaway orders come in, the restaurant guests simply wait. As was the case yesterday, where we waited 40 minutes. Several bags were packed and left the restaurant ... while we were just waiting and waiting and waiting ....

When my Gyuniku Teppan arrived, the meat had gotten cold. I told our waiter how took the plate back to the kitchen who - and now hold on ! - simply fried it another 2 minutes. Et voila, the meat was completely over-cooked. Sorry, this is a no-go. It was politely taken off the bill by the kind waiter, who was truly embarrassed. But the waiting time and then also a spoiled dish was a bit too much.

All in all a quite chaotic evening with absolutely no planning nor professionalism in the kitchen. And the real problem: they prioritise takeaway, not the...

In short: way too expensive for the worst sushi we ever ate. 2 stars because edible. Long: We ate maki, California rolls and a seaweed salad. Neither of these were tasty and neither tasted fresh. But they were all much pricier than any other sushi place we tried in the area. Oh yeah, and then there's the 7EUR(!) Bottle of water - arguably the best thing we had here. The staff were not a redeeming factor either. When we arrived we saw some people just leaving and the plates they took away still had the better part of a wok-dish on it that looked delicious, but then again we don't know why they didn't eat it then. If you really need to go there, perhaps these dishes are better? The place was about 90% full on...

The location was okay and the food was good but the service was atrocious. We reserved a table at 19:30. At 19:40 we made our order: 1 starter, 2 dishes and two drinks. After 35 minutes we got the drinks and after 40 minutes we get the starter while people who came after us already got their main dishes. We complained to the staff and then we ate at 21:00 in the end. That was really unprofessional. We also caught the staff looking at our table several times but they didn’t tell us anything about our order. It was quite frustrating because the food was really good too but it came so late that our appetite was...
