My friend and I were 2 time offenders, coming for dinner and a lunch. When we came for dinner I had made 7:00 PM, Monday reservations. When we arrived, the place was fairly empty. We were able to get a table for 2 with a view of the beautiful moon lit beach. Lucky for us it was 2 for 1 Martini Monday. The place was big with bar area and and live music and a huge instagrammable sign of “I love Belize”. All the seating was covered and outdoor. To note: no air conditioning. Our server for dinner was Jose, who was very OK, not as attentive as he should of been. I had to track him down at least 3 times to check on our drinks and food. Lunch a couple days later was Rony, who was very nice and very attentive, remembering us from the previous night. Of course we took advantage of the Monday 2 for 1 Martinis. Dinner entrees ordered was the Diablo Alfredo and the Thai Curry Shrimp. A couple days later we shared a Pepperoni Pizza. To be honest the food and drinks were OK, not a wow! The bar and the kitchen were a bit slow considering how empty the restaurant was both times. With all the restaurants we tried on the island during our stay, this was...

Update: the sushi rolls we just tried (picnic and queen) aren't what we would consider the same level of other dishes we have had here. The sushi rolls had a lot of rice, and the lobster shrimp salad in the picnic roll had no lobster we could see. The pickled ginger was more savory and not palletable.

Previous review: 1st time in San Pedro, Belize. This place was recommended by a frequent visitor we met on the plane. It's hop, skip and a jump from our hotel.

It's behind the Sunbreeze hotel (map might take you around the back alley). Open to the ocean and has a very tropical feel.

We ordered the coconut shrimp on skewers, conch ceviche, mix seafood grill, and Mayan fish abode.

The coconut shrimp was normal, but the sauce with Chinese black bean was something new, and it works! The conch was fresh, but I prefer a bit of sweetness instead of overly acidic ceviche. The seafood in the mix grill was done to perfection. Fish was moist, and the crustaceans were succulent! The Mayan fish in Adobe sauce was new to us, but it had a nice pepper aroma but not the heat. Fish was also done perfectly.

If we had another chance, we would...

Yikes. Terrible service.

This looked like a lovely place to spend a nice dinner while in Belize. We decided to go for sushi night, which is a busy night for them.

We didn’t make a reservation, and the hostess let us know it would be 40ish minutes for a table. We decided to sit at the bar instead.

The sushi (once we got it) was...fine. Nothing special. But the journey to that sushi was quite rocky.

I’m not sure what we did wrong, but I do know that we tipped well (20%) for our first round of drinks. I have no idea what we did to merit the total lack of service we received after that. We sat for a long time without any attention. Then we each ordered a glass of wine and both received the wrong one. It took about an hour to get sushi. Bartenders Nathan and Emil seemed unconcerned with us. It honestly felt like we were purposefully ignored.

We have literally never had a service industry experience like this anywhere in the world, and I’d love to know what we did wrong. We would highly recommend you go to any of the many, many San Pedro spots that are delicious, friendly and welcoming. There...

My friends and I called to book reservations for Sushi night on Thursday and were told that Sushi night was changed to Friday. We then arrived Friday evening at approx 8:40pm at a time when there were still tables eating and were told that Sushi night is no longer available. We actually offered them an extra $50 USD to serve us since my friends traveled from Canada to enjoy Belize. They still did not accommodate us. I have lived in San Pedro for many years and have spent thousands of dollars at BWG in the past. They were not aware of this. I regret to say this but this was a very poor quality of service. Businesses should honor their hours of operation even if there was not alot of people. We decided to go to Myoto Japanese Sushi at Mahogany Bay and enjoyed a very very nice Sushi night despite the poor experience and treatment we received at Blue Water Grill. Very disappointed in this experience. I don't usually post bad experiences but I think this needed to be said. I have posted a pic of the Sushi from Myoto.
