My wife and I literally just came back from this "french bakery" and were supremely disappointed. I can get much better bakery back at home in Las Vegas. The croissants were dry, there were two measly slices of ham and a small helping of shredded cheese on our "sandwiches". No mustard or mayo of any kind (we had to ask) and no lettuce or tomatoes either. Plus I left hungry, which is NEVER a good thing. Whether you're a local or a tourist, skip this place, even though it's cheap, it's not good and will leave you hungry. I'd write more, but I gotta go find second lunch somewhere else.
Further edit: Upon seeing the owner's response, I have the following thoughts. All reviews, whether objective or subjective are personal opinions. My personal opinion is I had a terrible experience here and I'm sharing it with others so they don't have the same fate. Others will have differing opinions. That's the beauty of reviews, you can see what everyone's experience was.
In terms of "what's on the board" I'm sure a native French citizen would be just as disappointed with the sprinkling of shredded cheese as I was. No swiss, brie, or grand cru? The best you have is a jack mix? Incredibly disappointing. I'm originally from Wisconsin so I know my cheese. The "shredded cheese mix and limp ham" was definitely not on the board.
My croissant was dry and hard. Like 2 day old hard. Fresh? Hardly. I put "Las Vegas" in there because I've had better bakery at home in Vegas than a French bakery here. That's disappointing.
My final thought is I've worked with a chef/small business owner just like this one. It's all the customer's fault and never anything with the owner/food. It's important to know how to treat people, in addition to knowing how NOT to treat people. The response I received clearly demonstrates this owner believes their food is the best on the island. That is their opinion (albeit a biased one). It is not. That is my opinion, a non-biased one.
Part of owning a business is dealing with customers who have a poor experience, with just as much respect and dignity as those who have a great experience. Clearly this business owner does not know how. He/she could have said, "let me give you and your wife another meal on the house to make it up to you", or "how much longer are you here, what can I do to earn your business back?" Instead a snooty response where I need lower my expectations of everyone else and understand they don't microwave anything and that it's not fast food (I never mentioned either of those. Pro-tip, NOTHING in San Pedro is fast food. I'd suggest skipping the "sandwiches" on your menu/board. Stick to what you do best (of which I'm still not sure what that is).
This is our 3rd trip to San Pedro, and something we learned is that we will NEVER be coming back to this establishment for a multitude of reasons, but the top two are: the food isn't good and the owners treat customers like they don't know what they're talking about. There are a number of great restaurants here that want your business, produce AMAZING food, and won't treat you like a prick in the end. Avoid this place...
Read moreThey probably used to make good products according to reviews and photos from few years ago but definitely not anymore, this is literally the worst bread I’ve ever had. I got a multigrain loaf, what a nightmare, that thing was so dense, dry and extremely salty I couldn’t do anything with it. The olive loaf was not much better either, it’s your average cardboard-like cheap supermarket bread. Baking is a craft and this place is far from mastering it. If you ever had real bread in your life don’t bother stopping here. EDIT: I’m French and I work in the culinary industry, they’re just pretentious bitter people not able to handle negative comments on their so-called “French bakery”. “It is very true that we all have different tastes” 😂😂 you could kill someone with that loaf of bread, it’s not a matter of taste if it’s not even edible. They should be ashamed of what they sell, for real, if they’ve been making this crap for 25 years that’s so sad. This is NOTHING near...

French Croissant Bakery is a true gem in San Pedro! From the moment I stepped in, I was welcomed by the warm and friendly atmosphere created by Felipa, who greeted me with such genuine kindness that I instantly felt at home.
The star of my visit was undoubtedly the vanilla croissant—it’s pure perfection! Buttery, flaky layers with a golden, crisp exterior gave way to a rich, velvety vanilla filling that was just sweet enough to leave you wanting more. Each bite melted in my mouth, making it an unforgettable treat that I’ll keep coming back for.
To pair with it, I had a cappuccino that was not only delicious but also incredibly affordable. It was frothy, creamy, and brewed just right—ideal for sipping while savoring the heavenly croissant.
The combination of Felipa’s warm hospitality, the amazing pastries, and the cozy, welcoming vibe makes this bakery a must-visit spot in San Pedro. Highly...
