Heard great things but unfortunately it was the worst part of our vacation. My girlfriend made reservations and told them it was a dinner for my birthday. We arrived and were seated at at table which had a small birthday sign...fine with me because I don't like to make a big fuss. We ordered drinks and Belizean dip as an appetizer. My girlfriend ordered shrimp from the menu and I ordered the venison special. Later, we received three fried balls of something. My girlfriend tried them and said that they were fish. When they brought our entrees, my girlfriend got her shrimp and they placed a lobster tail in front of me. I stated that I ordered the venison not the lobster and that we never received the Belizean dip but instead got three fried balls of something. They told us that my girlfriend had ordered the special and that the fish balls came with it. We told them that she had not ordered the special but had ordered from the menu. I explained that I had ordered the venison special. They continued to argue that the fault was with my girlfriend and her order but never addressed how my ordered had changed from venison to lobster. The waiter said that he would fix it but it had already taken an hour to receive our food and I didn't want to wait another hour or receive a rushed job. I paid for our drinks and we left. I would have been willing to stay until the order was corrected but having them argue that the mistake was our fault was just too much. Not a very good birthday dinner experience and a very low point for...
Read moreServing up more Belizean Food! I made reservations to this "popular" restaurant well in advanced. My friend and I dined here on a Wednesday at 6:30 PM and it was packed. Our table was waiting for us. I took note that there were very few servers based on the amount of diners. After being seated, we waited quite a bit for a server to come to our table. Finally Azueta came took our drink order which was 2 Classic Margaritas. My friend and I decided to share a Belizean Platter and a Whole Fried Snapper.
The drink took a long time. We finally got them along with the Appetizer Platter. As I was sipping the Margarita, I will say it was one of the worse tasting Margaritas I've ever had, no taste it was like drinking ice water. So bad when I finally got the attention of a server I told him send it back and take it off our bill. The Belizean Platter was very good. At this point I just wanted to order a beer. Again, to get the attention of any server was almost impossible. I felt like the forgotten child. The Fish came, very small and skinny and overcooked. Unfortunately this place was a let down with so many other to choose from.
Atmosphere: casual local feel. Service:...

Area - the area isn't too difficult to get to. Luckily there are only a few major roads, and most US cell providers have service here, so google maps is your friend. The area is bustling with locals and tourist traps. You'll pass a few markets and a bank and even some other local shops in route. It feels quite safe, and is a nice drive from most of the resorts on golf cart.
Food - the food is excellent! Id say the portions are medium sized, and well plated. You essentially pick a meat, and there are a few different flavor profiles offered. There's a traditional with peppers and onions, a belizean flavor that is essentially a well seasoned tomato based sauce with peppers and onions, and a lime garlic sauce. Each flavor comes with a choice of white rice or rice and beans. There are also a couple appetizers, but i would recommend the conch fritters with the mango glaze.
All in all, this was an excellent stop, with great food and even...
