We are in Hopkins 1-2 times a year and eat at La Trattoria 1-3 times each visit! Usually our first dinner when we arrive. I am eating leftovers from there as I write this review - the pasta norcina and bolognaise are my favorites. Is the service a tad different from a big city - yes - but it is one guy with one, maybe two people in the kitchen running the entire restaurant. You are on island time in Hopkins and time slows down, enjoy it! Order some wine and bruschetta and enjoy your company! The stocked wine varies from the wine menu most likely due to availability in the country and what they can get - let the owner know your price point and pallet and he will select the perfect bottle for you. Slow and relatively gruff, but things move at a different pace in Belize, and it was the end of the busy season - maybe the guy was just burnt out on tourists... Enjoyed our meal so much we went back a few days later. Definitely not high end atmosphere, but the food was on point as far as italian goes - flavorful, good portions and authentic. Well I definitely ate my words because La Trattoria was DELICIOUS!!!!! It was so good that we came back for dinner another night! First night we had bruschetta and lasagna... the bruschetta was extremely flavorful and fresh. The lasagna was delish. The noodles were the best I've ever had. The second evening I once again had bruschetta and added a salad... both did not disappoint! We will definitely be back on...
