We had a choice here with Bermuda’s 2 Indian Restaurants and based on a local recommendation and TA decided to try this one. Sam the Owner/ Manager was not in duty .
We checked in and had a lovely 2 table which was nice given that the restaurant filled in within minutes and other diners had to sit on the outside. We spotted a fellow Resort guest. It’s behind Front Street in a colorful alleyway .
Valerian was our sever and my first tip is to remember when guests arrived as we were here being served water while guests closer to the door who came after were served first. Also we had to remind him for papar.
We ordered vegetable pakoras which were great with the tadka dal ( a bit thicker than it should be) along with Punjabi prawns which comes with gravy. The 4 chutneys served was unique . To guests please use the spoon rather than dip your hands inside as I assume these trays are topped off and given to other tables .
For dessert usual but coconut Burfi was over sweet . We were hoping for Kheer but none was on the menu.
Premi remembered our anniversary and brought some cheesecake over which was a nice touch.
After this you might wonder why 5 starts. For a restaurant in Bermuda definitely 5 stars. To compare this Indian restaurant to those in the US we would say very good but service a bit on the downside as mentioned above .
For leftovers nice touch...
Read moreWe had a pleasure eating at this restaurant during our very recent visit to Bermuda. We stayed further from the town, but because the locals raved about it and because we love Indian food in general, we decided to take a taxi and try this restaurant out. I have to tell you, it was well worth it! We had two kinds of samosas, grilled mushrooms, naan, chicken korma and daal makhani and we took the desserts home, since portions were generous and we could not fit in desserts right after dinner. Daal makhani is my favorite indian dish, so I make a point to try it in every Indian food restaurant I visit. I must tell, daal in this restaurant was superb! The owner explained to us that they use traditional techniques to make it, when they leave the dish in the warm oven overnight. Chicken korma was also amazing, we shared and tried everything and there was no single item we did not like. The owner and staff were gracious hosts and greeted us very nicely. The owner even walked out with us outside to show where the cabs are, since we were not familiar with the town. A few hours later we dug into desserts that we brought home - cheesecake and chocolate mud cake. Again, divine! If you are in Bermuda, try this restaurant out, you will not be dissapointed. I would give 10...
Read moreThis restaurant is definitely one of the best Indian restaurant on the island for classic Indian food experience. The menu offers all the classic Indian dishes one maybe craving for after spending some time on the island. Located on the Main Street in Hamilton not far away from the big Bermuda sign by the water.
We got onion pakora, Shahi paneer and garlic naan. Shahi paneer came with a side of rice. The chutneys offered with the food were outstanding. The gravies are offered as an entire meal or you can get it as a side which is great if you are sharing with friends and family. Eg. Shahi paneer dish was priced at $17 USD but you could get it as a side for $9-10 (can’t remember exactly)
Service by Wesley was excellent and he paid attention to detail. He was polite, quick and courteous. Our water glasses were filled as soon as they were empty or partially consumed.
The restaurant location itself wasn’t great- the entrance to the restaurant was not straightforward, the lighting inside could be redone and the inside felt a bit claustrophobic. Otherwise the staff were great, food was delicious and reasonably...
