Barlavento Beach Bar & Lounge — Restaurant in Região Geográfica Imediata de Vitória

This was my first time in Vitoria - ES, and my friends decided to take my partner and I to Barlavento, as they said it was a great place for a few drinks. But where to start.

Firstly, our party was told that we could make use of the lounges upstairs if there were no reservations; we got there early and sat on the sofas enjoying our happy hour cocktails. The lounge we were sat at had a reservation, so we were told by a very nice staff member that we could just move over to another lounge, and we did. However, after a couple of minutes, the door person came up to us and said that we had to pay an extra surcharge to sit on the sofas/lounge area (bear in mind that this was NEVER explained to us prior. The whole staff, including this door person, said that we could stay on the lounges. We did check and there was no reservation on that particular lounge we were at). We were very confused as to why that was only coming up now, and I asked how much was the surcharge, to which she chose to not tell me. I just asked how much it was! Horrible customer service by that door person.

I then proceeded to go to the bathroom, and funnily enough there was no toilet paper! And the hand towels were literally wet kitchen rolls (pics below).

After that lounge/sofa fiasco, we decided to leave. Our friends paid for both of us, as we were in the toilet. Then as I was about to leave, the security would let me leave as apparently "I didn't pay my bill". It took me a good five minutes to explain to the staff that our friends, who were outside, had paid for both of us. They came in to explain but it still seemed like they didn't understand the simple concept of one person paying for two people.

Also, we were getting drinks on the happy hour deals, but when it came to the payment, they charged us full price for the drinks. Safe to say I won't be returning as this customer service...

Today I decided to try this place, the only one on the Camburi waterfront that had the courage and perhaps even the permission from the municipal administration of Vitória to give an improvement to a terrifying urban project! The place deserves a little applause even if the designer has lost himself between Mediterranean and Yankee scents, losing sight of the local South American location ... we could have done much better ... The selection of kitchen products is good and quality, even if it does not exceed in big news! Beautiful inspiration from the mussels of Santa Catarina, too bad they were almost cold. The oven-baked dentao of excellent quality, I would say also the attractive price, fell out of favor over half-cooked. To finish the service on average good, even if the waiters could have been more informed about the dishes...

Ridículo! Fui a esse lugar para comemorar o casamento de amigos e quero expressar minha total indignação e repúdio ao tratamento racista que sofri nesse estabelecimento. Fui tratada de maneira discriminatória por funcionários.

Estava sentada na parte onde estava a decorrer a comemoração e, então, fui para fora, onde a família do meu marido estava. Descemos eu e ele; o meu marido, que ia à frente, passou normalmente. Eu fui logo atrás, e um funcionário veio atrás de mim dizendo que eu precisava colocar uma pulseira (o que até entendi, pois todos estavam com essa pulseira), e que eu deveria ir até outra funcionária, pois eu seria revistada.

Mas por que só eu fui revistada? Por que ninguém mais ali passou por isso? Apenas eu? Uma pessoa negra?

A mulher revistou o meu corpo e a minha bolsa, mas não vi isso acontecer com mais ninguém ali. E eu estava sentada ao lado e de frente para onde os funcionários estavam parados. Simplesmente demonstraram atitudes claramente motivadas por preconceito racial.

Saí dali rapidamente para não estragar a festa. O meu marido foi questionar o ocorrido, e alegaram que era porque eu estava com a pulseira branca. Depois, contradizendo-se, disseram que era porque iam começar a revistar todos. Contradições…

Não é aceitável que, em pleno século XXI, ainda sejamos obrigados a lidar com esse tipo de comportamento inaceitável, que fere a nossa dignidade, autoestima e direitos fundamentais garantidos por lei. Senti-me extremamente humilhada e envergonhada com...
