We stopped by for dinner here tonight. On arrival we asked for menu in English what was provided, waiter maid a joke at first moment that he is American but then kept talking in Portuguese with us even though we were not understanding the word he was saying . We have ordered the food and it took nearly an hour to get starters that were realistically needed leas then 10 min to be made as those were all deep fried. Waiter apologies for waiting time ( al least that's what we thought he is saying ) then while having a starters he brought out main course that was super disappointing. We were group of 4 and nor even 1 of us liked food we have given ...overall food was not well presented and over salty to the point we could not finish our food . Some of the food items like potatoes and rise were completely cold what was not great either . We have noticed that other tables pur us were waiting for food to long as well and that people were not finishing their food either. Overall very disappointed considering that it's a bit pricier comparing to other...
Read moreThe price of the drinks are a bit higher here than across the road, because they have a singer on at night. However, when you get your bill they add on a charge for the music. I don't know if they do that to everyone or just to the 'Gringos'. The first night they didn't add it on, the 2nd night they did, but when we queried it the waiter told us it was optional (so we deducted it and gave a tip to the waiter instead). Last night they added it and insisted we pay it. I refused and we ended up having an argument with the manager. I told him to phone the police if he wanted and we left after paying for the drinks. For me this is becoming symptomatic of many businesses here, they get greedy and try to milk you for more and more. Well there are other bars in the area that have live music, so that's the last of my money they're getting. So because of their greed we'll go elsewhere for the rest of...
Read moreWe saw the reviews and decided to come to Vinicius e Bossa Nova a few night ago with my family for a dining and music experience. The food did not disappoint, we ate fish and meat that comes sizzling on a barbecue to your table. We also had some amazing flambé strawberries made by our very friendly waiter. The negative side of the experience was surprisingly the singer that evening who called himself Mr Bossa Nova or something like that who was an older guy with grey hair and glasses. Although he was good he talks to the crowd and has a bad, sanctimonious attitude that made us feel very uncomfortable in front of other guests. It spoiled our enjoyment. And on top of this he seemed annoyed we didn’t want to buy his CD. What a weird man. So top marks for the food but tell the singer to stick to the singing and let the music...
