While in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil my friend and I decided to spend the day at the hippie fair in Ipanema. After walking around the Fair shopping for souvenirs we became hungry and decided to stop for lunch. Right across the street from the park where the fair is held we see of a bunch of restaurants and this place caught our eye.
We walked in and asked for a table for two and we're seated right away. The place was really crowded being that it was lunch time but that didn't stop them from seating us quickly.
As I'm sitting at the table my friend went downstairs to use the bathroom and these gentlemen are walking around with appetizers on plates. They don't speak English but they come up to you and it seems like they are offering you to try the appetizers I wasn't sure what they were saying or even what the food was so I just didn't say anything. When my friend got back we finally looked at the menu and asked for some help from the waiter because we wanted to know how big the portions are and if could share a plate. The waiter helped us choose a dish that would be shareable and enough. The servers came back around with those appetizers and we ordered two, one was a vegetarian option of Bean and the other one was a shrimp option. These things were sooo good. I don't even know exactly what they were called but i'd get them again.
On to the food we ordered a grilled fish with broccoli rice. The fish came with a shrimp sauce and it also came with french fries for some reason most of the meals in Brazil come with french fries on the side. When our food arrives the rice comes in a little pot and the waiter serve you the food. It was so delicious!!! The broccoli rice has so much flavor and it just wasn't what I was expecting. For some reason I was thinking that it was going to be rice made from broccoli but it was actually a fried rice that they add broccoli to. This is a popular dish in Brazil and it is served in many of the restaurants over there. The fish was cooked perfectly not over dry at all and the shrimp sauce on the side tasted more like if you were to order beans with your rice but instead of beans it had baby shrimp in it and the fries were cooked to perfection crisp & hot.
With one order that we shared we were really full and didn't have room for dessert. I really enjoyed my meal at...
Read moreI recently visited Boteco Belmonte in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro and had a mixed experience. The restaurant offers some excellent dishes and boasts a fantastic location, but there is room for improvement when it comes to service and the attitude of the servers.
Let's start with the positives. The food at Boteco Belmonte is undeniably delicious. From traditional Brazilian dishes to mouthwatering appetizers, the menu offers a wide range of options that will satisfy any food lover. The flavors were well-balanced and the presentation was top-notch. Moreover, the restaurant's location in Ipanema is simply perfect, surrounded by the vibrant atmosphere of the neighborhood.
However, my experience with the service left something to be desired. It seemed that the staff's primary focus was on making sales rather than providing exceptional customer service. The servers lacked enthusiasm and attentiveness, which created a disconnect between the customer and the restaurant. Improving the training and attitude of the staff could significantly enhance the overall dining experience.
Despite this setback, I did have an enjoyable time at Boteco Belmonte. The combination of great food and a prime location is undeniable. It is worth a visit, especially if you are a food enthusiast who craves an authentic Brazilian culinary experience. However, be prepared for the service to potentially fall short.
In conclusion, Boteco Belmonte offers a delightful culinary experience with its delicious food and enviable location. The restaurant has great potential, but it is crucial for management to focus on improving the service and instilling a more customer-centric mindset in their servers. With these improvements, Boteco Belmonte could become a top-notch dining destination in...
Read moreDEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND!! I don’t know where its fame comes from but the Belmonte is definitely not up to ANY standard. I went there on the 16/12 (my birthday) to celebrate with 4 more friends. Downstairs was full and for getting on the upper side we had to pay $R 35,00 per person because apparently it was a more private spot and there was gonna be a dj. We decided to stay seeing how the place was overall described. Once upstairs we See that the place is actually packed and the tables are pretty close one to another but seeing the price we payed, we decide to stay. The drinks we ordered took almost 30 min to be served, and the food came warm-ish. For the price you have to pay for food and drinks we expected something amazing but the drinks were tasteless and the food wasn’t anything worth paying that much. On top of all this, THERE WAS NO MUSIC! Which was basically the thing we payed for to get there. The volume was so low that you could listen the music only if you were seating beside the speakers. We decided to leave and try to get our $R 35,00 back as there wasn’t anything that they described. The floor supervisor Mario was one of the rudest persons I’ve spoken to and after a good few minutes of discussing with him he closed the conversation with “if you don’t like it just go away and don’t come back”. Many other people complained for the same reason but no one was heard. It was the worst place I’ve visited in Brazil so far and I hope they’ll do something about their staff and organization because they’re far from...
