Oh, what drama! The owner greeted us very abrasively with "nombre"? We proceeded to check-in and completed forms. She indicated that she does not take credit cards. Coz we were low on cash and did not have the energy to go to a bank, we then declined to stay. Because we did not want to leave our passport and credit card information with her, we tore up the forms and proceeded to the door. the lady went ballistic, ran for the door and locked us in. she was screaming and shouting like someone who is certifiably crazy. She then proceeded to call someone and we were hoping it be the police, but after a few minutes no police arrived. we then proceeded to talk to her and she just screamed in Portuguese. we called the police and they came speedily. we tried with google translate to explain what has happened. she proceeded to explain, surprisingly in a calm and friendly tone to the police. apparently all she wanted was the torn up documents and we were let out. I did not feel welcomed by this establishment when we first arrived and she is very abrasive and disrespectful to travellers, who are tired and paying her money. she cannot communicate and is rude and manipulative. I will not recommend this place to anyone, no matter how desperate you are for accommodation. its best to sleep on the street. No recomiendo este hostel, la dueña tiene malos modos y realmente controla todo lo que se hace. Ella considera que estan hospedandose en su casa bajo sus reglas como si fuese todo de favor (a pesar de estar pagando muchisimo.) Ademas que es carlismo para lo que ofrece. Es preferible gastar varios muchos dolares más por ir a otro lado. Fui en año nuevo. Del 25 de diciembre al 4 de enero. Pense que los comentarios exageraban pero no es asi. (VER en booking todos son negativos) Lo unico positivo es la ubicación, pero realmente recomiendo NO ir ahi.
Tienen horario para salir por la noche. Increiblemente ridiculo. Luego de las 22H solo se puede salir y volver a entrar una vez. Para volver después de las 22 hay que tocar un timbre y esperar que la dueña del hostel se levante a abrir porque cierra la puerta. Te prohibe la entrada si ya saliste y entraste después de las 22h, hasta las 7 am. (a veces hay que esperar y tocar timbre varias veces, de noche. Un poco peligroso aunque la zona sea linda) Lei los comentarios y no crei que fuese cierto pero si es asi.
Estuve en una habitacion de 10 mujeres. La habitacion es amplia y las camas son comodas. Dan sabanas (no dan frazada ni toallas). El baño se encuentra adentro de la habitación tiene dos lavamanos dos duchas y un inodoro. No limpiaban bien, solo barren, a veces cambiaban la bolsa del basurero. En varias ocasiones no tuvimos papel higienico. Tiene aire acondicionado que solo lo prenden en temperatura 16°c (helado) de 22 a 7 am. Eso me pareció muy incomodo porque hace muchisimo calor en verano cuando hay 10 personas en una habitación. Considere que no iba a ser importante cuando reserve, pero era insoportable estar ahi adentro. (No se puede estar "todo el dia en la playa" en verano.)
La cocina es amplia pero no cuenta con ventilador y hace muchisimo calor para cocinar. No tiene utensillos suficientes (por ejemplo cuchillos habia 2 y tenedores había 4) Prácticamente no pudimos usar la cocina, solo la usabamos para desayunar. Es incomodo. Cuenta con una sola heladera para todos los que se hospedan y no entra la comida, (no dejan tener hielo ni bebidas alcoholicas adentro de la heladera) La cocina se puede usar solo hasta las 22h y despues piden que se apaguen las luces. A veces el olor a ajo y comida es insoportable en todo el hostel.
La zona comun del hostel es bastante deprimente, por lo general no hay nadie y no esta nada iluminado, solo se puede usar hasta las 00hs. No se puede poner musica. En la ppagina web ponen fotos como si hubiese gente constantemente o fuese divertido y realmente no lo es.

Stayed here for four or five nights during a classtrip in Brazil.||||The rooms are allright, descent size and allright beds. However, they turn of the aircondition. Between 23:00 and 07:00 your room will be liveable, if you wanna stay on your room at any other time; forget it! You will probably die from the heat! Also, they do not turn on your aircondition at 2300, you'll have to ask the rather grumpy staff to do so, meaning that if you come home at say, midnight, dead-tired and just want to crash on your bed, you can't do so. You'll have to ask the staff to do it, and wait for 30-45 minutes or so for your room to be liveable again. Then you can go to sleep only to find yourself dripping of sweat at 07:30 as the aircondtion has been turned off.||||The location is very good though, a very short walk to Ipanema beach, and Copacabana is just 15 minutes...
