As I stepped into Dona Augusta, nestled along the vibrant R. Augusta, I was hopeful for a culinary escapade that would tantalize my taste buds and soothe my soul. However, my experience was a blend of highs and lows, shaped by both the strengths and challenges of the restaurant.
Let's start with the positives. Despite the bustling atmosphere of Carnival outside, the service at Dona Augusta remained commendably efficient and attentive. The staff navigated through the chaos with grace, ensuring that patrons were promptly seated and attended to, despite the distractions beyond the restaurant's walls.
Unfortunately, the carnival festivities also brought with them an overwhelming cacophony of noise from the streets, which permeated the dining space and detracted from the overall ambiance. While this was beyond the restaurant's control, it nonetheless impacted the dining experience, making conversation difficult and diminishing the enjoyment of the meal.
Turning to the menu, I found myself underwhelmed by the limited options available. With the festivities in full swing, I had hoped for a more extensive selection to cater to varying tastes and preferences. Additionally, while the Coxinha and hot dog were adequate, they lacked the depth of flavor and culinary finesse that I had anticipated. A bolder seasoning or more creative presentation could have elevated these classic dishes to new heights.
Despite these shortcomings, there were glimpses of potential at Dona Augusta. The ambiance, albeit overshadowed by the carnival chaos, exuded a cozy charm, and the staff's professionalism shone through despite the challenging circumstances. With a few adjustments to the menu offerings and perhaps some soundproofing measures to mitigate the street noise, Dona Augusta has the opportunity to truly shine as a culinary destination in São Paulo.
In conclusion, while my experience at Dona Augusta was not without its challenges, there were moments of promise that hint at its potential. With a focus on refining the menu and addressing the external noise disturbances, Dona Augusta has the opportunity to emerge as a standout dining destination in the heart of São Paulo's bustling...
Read moreI wish I could give this place a great review and return every day. The food was delicious. Best vegan food I have had in São Paulo. The portion was huge. The price was reasonable. The staff was courteous (if slow) even though I arrived close to closing.
I have to give one star because some hours after eating my meal, I began to have severe stomach cramps and diarrhea that have lasted for about 45 hours at this point (though much more severe during the initial 24 hours). I have hesitated in writing this review, trying to think of another cause these symptoms might have, but because I can find none, I feel it necessary to leave this review.
I see this is not the first review they have gotten about suspected food poisoning on this platform, though the other instance was years ago. As others have noted, there are aspects of the general appearance of cleanliness about the restaurant that might have contributed to these issues. The ownership seems concerned on this platform about addressing issues their customers raise. With that in mind, I note that I had the "BigDog" hotdog and was there two nights ago. I hope some issue can be found and addressed with regards to food preparation or storage, employee hand washing, or general cleanliness. This place deserves to be patronized. And its clients deserve to consume safe food. I sincerely hope that can happen in a reliable way...
Read moreHmmm, I'm a bit torn. It's great to have a place like this, that serves some vegan options you won't find anywhere else, but my sandwich was a bit disappointing. The bread would be much nicer if it was toasted, and the whole thing felt a bit mushy. My milk shake was great tho, and the staff was super nice, so I would definitely give it a...
