Mediterraneo is not just my favorite restaurant in Sofia – it’s probably one of the best restaurants in the world. Everything about it feels special.
The service is consistently amazing – warm, attentive, and welcoming. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance: the restaurant has a large garden for summer evenings, a spacious indoor area, and a cozy fireplace that makes it especially comfortable during the day or on colder nights. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy a quiet conversation without being disturbed.
The food is outstanding. Mediterraneo offers seasonal dishes and desserts that are not always on the menu, but when they appear, they’re world-class – especially the desserts. Their selection of meats and fresh fish is excellent, all prepared on special smoky barbecues that give every dish an unforgettable flavor. The pasta is exceptional, and the pizza is so good that my children say it’s the best they’ve ever had.
They also have a remarkable wine list, with an extensive variety of red and white wines available by the glass, which makes it easy to pair with whatever you’re eating.
I recommend Mediterraneo 100%. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy top-quality food, world-class service, and a truly welcoming atmosphere, this is the place to go.
As a bonus, Mediterraneo is part of a family of restaurants in Sofia – including Jazu and others – so once you discover it, you’ll probably want to explore the rest of...
Read moreI've been to this place a few times but got very disappointed the last time. Salads were very small and not tasty at all- we ordered the Mediterranean salad with hot peppers... gyros was ok, but below average, the pizza also ok. We ordered meat balls and steak on BBQ and both dishes were very undercooked!! This is not the taste of neither me, nor the taste of any of my guests. I very politely and quietly asked the waitress to ask the chef to cook my meat until well done...In good restaurants all over the world they ALWAYS ask how to cook your meat when they get your order, because even if chef doesn't like it some people, just like me like their meat WELL done. 15 minutes later the waitress returned the exact same dish, not cooked even a bit- meat inside was pink and I really can't eat it that way! Trolling people or proving them a point doesn't work in this business! They can't teach me to like raw meat in any case. If the customer asks you something you need to respect their taste. The waitress smiled after I showed her the pink meat again...the result I left my portion in the plate. A waste of food and money. Desserts - tiramisu and Provence yogurt sweet were below average. You can't leave big amounts of money in a restaurant and leave hungry and unsatisfied. Needless to say we're...
Read moreAlthough this restaurant is known as one of the fine points to try good quality italian/greek cousin, the last visit unfortunately turned in unpleasant experience. On first place some of their starters and salad became minimalistic dishes, in a point where one salad was 1/2 tomato and small pepper, not more than 120-150 grams, about 3 times less than standard dish. Although the food and products quality stayed on a good level I never saw smaller meals in Bulgarian restaurant. Saying above the prices rised considerably, as example above mentioned salad was approx 18.00 BGN. Some of the waiters can be totally disoriented and uninformative. Other negative point was the fact that there was only one open WC for the whole restaurant including the garden and small building tables. Could also mention the owner strange decision to behave familiar with some guests and totally ignoring others.
Summarizing the good points: the menu and wine list stayed with nice choices, good products, nice summer garden, some good season recipes
Against: VERY small dishes, High prices, the personal could be inadequate, cheap interior and salon design /some can see as interesting/, you will get hard time visiting the toilet,...
