I visited with a big group of colleagues. My experience was pretty much in line with my expectations - this is a restaurant situated inside a hotel in downtown Sofia, a minute away from the building of the parliament, the presidency and the national bank. As such, even based purely on location, you can expect everything to be rather expensive. With that being said, the food was great. I tried all entries and salads, including chilli shrimp, octopus, edamame, tartar etc. The main course I had was pasta with black angus. It was very good, but it was not what I actually ordered… I wanted the black angus ramen, but I’d assume the waiter misunderstood me, caught just the black angus part and by the time he brought me the pasta I was too hungry to wait another 40 minutes for a replacement. I did not try the steak, but it looked very good. Passed on the deserts. The wine selection is very good, but, as expected, also quite expensive.
To summarise- the quality of the food was great. Where I have to dial my score back is the usual price to value ratio, as well as the flawed service. If you don’t care about pricing this place is highly...
Read moreGo somewhere else! These poor people have no idea what good service or food is. It’s pitiful because yes the restaurant is beautiful. That’s where it all ends. They act as if they are Aureole in Manhattan when the service you get is more like McDonald’s. The music is so loud they are confused are we a night club or a restaurant they don’t know. After being seated for a 10:00 pm reservation we wait for 5 minutes for a waiter, water and a menu. When he arrives he tells us that if we are hungry we should only order cold food and if we want anything hot we should be prepared to wait an hour… and I will spare you any further details of their incompetence. They are full with customers but the clientele are locals who’s palette I feel my not have much to compare it to. For a restaurant at a Bonvoy property I expect much more. We walked out and had burgers in our room and they were great and in less...
Read moreSuch a disappointment. The main courses (both!) were too much salted. The chef said they didn’t add salt at all. Only because of the cheese in the dishes. I think I am not a beginner in food. We both said it was way too much. They asked to do it again. We said no as already disappointed and well, our mouth too much killed. They asked us after a pretty long time to do it again. We said no. They offered us a free dessert. To compensate a quarter of the bill for the main dishes. Not a great compensation. At least the starters were good. And the wine as well. The waiter was nice but didn’t have any real power. I did many restaurants in Europe essentially. First one at this level (like they are looking to be added in Michelin) that disappointing and with so less care from the executive staff members. Not added in my favorite...
