I recently had the pleasure of visiting Brown Coffee on Mao Tse Tung Boulevard in Phnom Penh, and I can confidently say it deserves every bit of a 5-star rating. From the moment I stepped into this architectural gem—housed in the reimagined former home of Vann Molyvann, a pioneer of New Khmer Architecture—I was captivated by the environment. The minimalist design, natural light, and lush courtyard garden create a serene and inspiring atmosphere that’s hard to find elsewhere. It’s not just a coffee shop; it’s a cultural experience that blends history with modern elegance.
But the magic of Brown Coffee doesn’t stop at its stunning setting. The service here is impeccable. The staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about ensuring every guest feels welcomed. Whether it was a friendly greeting at the door or thoughtful recommendations from their menu, their dedication to customer satisfaction shone through at every interaction. I felt like a valued guest from start to finish.
And then there’s the food and drinks—oh, what a delight! Brown Coffee truly excels in delivering high-quality offerings that cater to a variety of tastes. Their coffee, sourced and roasted with care, is nothing short of exceptional; each sip of my latte was rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced. The food menu impressed me just as much. From their freshly baked pastries to hearty breakfast options and savory dishes, everything I tried was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. It’s clear they prioritize quality ingredients and attention to detail in every bite.
What I love most about Brown Coffee is how they’ve mastered every aspect of the experience. The combination of an amazing environment, top-notch service, and outstanding food and beverages makes this a must-visit spot in Phnom Penh. Whether you’re a local or a traveler, this location offers a perfect escape to relax, work, or simply soak in the vibe. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their menu. Brown Coffee on Mao Tse Tung Boulevard has set the bar incredibly high, and I’m happy to give them a well-deserved 5 stars!

However, most of the seats are on the ground floor, while the first floor has 2 meeting rooms with only a few tables in each room, and the second floor is empty without a seat or any furniture yet. with a high number of visitors currently, people constantly walking around try to find a seat. additionally they use automatic number plates, so you will hear a loud bit bit bit sounds all over the building, it makes me thinking I didn't turn my noise canceling on. I was trying to sit in the garden, but without any shading, tree or umbrella, sitting under the sun is not a good idea.
Overall, it gives the vibe of bad interior design and half finished. maybe just a quick visit to take pictures or wait a few more months until it is...
Read more** Overall: I would highly recommend this place to a traveller and especially those appropriate architecture. Food & Drink: I love their pumpkin pie. It's giving a mix of Khmer and western taste at the same time. The drink I got was Tiramisu night and it was also nice. Price: well...If you live in Cambodia, you know how much Brown costs. Service: This place is currently very popular and crowded, however, the employees are still very friendly and nice. They didn't get annoyed by my indecisive moments 😅. They didn't put off their smile even when they were in a rush. Thank you for being nice. Location: This place is more than just a cafe. Art, history, etc. Easy to find. Very limited parking space. Atmosphere: 5 starts from me. Although I don't like the crowd, I would go back to admire the architecture. I don't recommend this place for a date, or business meeting though 😀. I should be part of a city...
