I stopped in here because I was really craving some Mexican food and tacos to be more precise. I must say that I was not thrilled with the food which maybe should not come as a surprise because I am in Cambodia and it is tacos being prepared by Khmer.
Ordered fish tacos, salad, "mexican" rice, and a side order of beans. First off we all know that any Mexican restaurant will not charge you for beans if ordering rice. They come together like....let me think...rice and beans :) But hey things are different here. More of a concern was the rice. This in no way should be called Mexican or anything of the sort. It is actually Asian sticky rice with some type of flavoring. Someone please send them some Adobo and Sazon! I will not even get started with the tacos.
The place is fairly large so you should not have a problem finding any seating, even with large groups. The staff were fairly nice when you can actually get them to come to your table. Be prepared to go seeking waitstaff if you need anything.
On a good note they are conveniently located and I saw they have drinks for very cheap, such as...
Read moreCambodian Amok is good even if Viva is not the place for local food. Interestingly, their Amok chicken is cheaper in this restaurant, when this dish is usually one of the most expensive one compared to some Cambodian classics: fried rice, noodle cutilloo soups, etc. Location is excellent for tourists with a view on the old market. Didn't tried the Mexican food but it looked nice served on other tables. Prices are higher than average in Siem Reap which is not a surprise for foreign food but the amok was like $1, $1.50 more expensive than in some nice local restaurants. Service was fine late in the evening. This is a big busy place so don't be surprise if preparing the foods can take longer. My amok came quick after order, probably around 10-12 minutes. Not the place I would usually recommend to my friends in Cambodia, but a going place to chill out in the old market area with some mexican food. An amazing Praying Mantis came a the table that night, see...
Read moreLocation+ I n a busy street corner a block from Pub street Ambience-Typical open to the street restaurant. Drinks- margaritas and sangria were ok but not going special other than they were $.50 during happy hour Service- fast and attentive. Although when they brought the food they didn't know which burrito was whose or what was in them. Having a vegetarian, we needed to cut into each to figure it out. Not a big deal but reflects the service which was good but not careful Food- in the US, the food would be average. The fact that it's Mexican in Cambodia makes me give it an above average. Nothing spectacular but good Mexican Value- Fair. Entrees are around $6-10. A bit cheaper than the us but definitely more expensive then comparable Khmer restaurants on the same street. I would eat here again bit only if I needed a Mexican fix. Otherwise there are other Restaurants with better quality food and better value. Plus- one if the few restaurants that accepts...
