I have now been here a couple months and it still seems to be my favorite spot to hang out..I consider it to be the center of the city. Let me explain why I like it so much...
The food! When I drove past last night I counted 54 food carts! You can grab a little something from different carts or grab several from one and sit on the provided plastic chairs/tables before moving on to dessert or what is my personal favorite, one of the juice/smoothie/shake (whatever you prefer) carts. This is amazing...you can grab a decent sized fruit shake for $1.00!! Not only do they have a very wide variety to choose from including exotic fruits...you can also mix 2 or 3 fruits. Wish this was possible back home.
Its just a cool place to hang out. It's on a river with 2 bridges that are lit up in different colors. You can relax by the river or stroll through the park where the locals are very friendly and you will probably get an occasional "welcome to Cambodia, where are you from".
The market. This is a bit smaller than other local markets but they do have a nice variety of shops to grab some things whether it be souvenirs, jewellery, fake supreme bags :), sneakers, art, etc. They also have massage spots and the pools to soak your feet while little fish nibble on them. This is only a couple dollars and they'll even offer you a free beer while you relax.
Lastly, it is very close walking distance to many restaurants, bars, and the famous pub street.
This is a must...
