There's only one place on earth where you can get the Tomb Raider cocktail, and it's called The Red Piano. It's in the renowned Pub Street of Siem Reap, Cambodia, where life happens every evening after sunsets with backpackers, tourists, couples and locals making dollars doing tattoos and selling exotics like fried scorpios and silkworms.
It is also famous as Angelina Jolie's favorite hangout in the evenings while she was filming Tomb Raider and, later, First They Killed My Father.
The rather nondescript cocktail she liked to have there — lime juice, Cointreau, tonic water, ice — is now promoted as the Tomb Raider cocktail. Every 10th one is free, and every 500th one sold entitles you a teeshirt and 100$ in cash. A siren goes off to alarm everyone. The Red Piano actually has a blood red piano that you can play, and red statues and and an odd bald-headed red gnome. On the street outside a vendor sells fried scorpions, frogs, tarantulas and silkworms.

Read moreGreat atmosphere, great location, you can either sit in or outside. The menu offers both an extensive list of Khmer and Western food, with a nearly all day breakfast (the egg portion of it is, for sure). Ordered the Amok fish curry (do it do it do it, it's really good!) while my friend had the breakfast burrito and no regrets whatsoever. Had two of their special coffees, basically adding a shot of alcohol and whipped cream, and they come with small cookies too - it's a dessert within itself. We both had a preference for the Amaretto coffee, which is almond and apricot liqueur based. The only minor hiccup would be the fact that the service was quite slow, but that may be due to the lack of staff (posters outside showing that they were looking to hire urgently). All in all, good food for reasonable Western pricing, nice atmosphere and would...
Read moreMy wife and I checked this place out the other night. I was very surprised at how big the portions were and the food was great. Online the prices are about equal to the amount of food you are getting in my opinion, but eating in the restaurant where it's cheaper is a steal.
They also have two kids items (spaghetti and chicken with fries). This was great for us with our son so we don't have to order him a full meal as we do at many other restaurants. Granted at other restaurants they serve Khmer portions which are much smaller.
Either way, I'd highly recommend this restaurant, especially during COVID while the prices are lower. We will be back for sure.
The only downside is that it's located on Pub Street so you gotta park your bike further down the street and walk, unless no security. That's not a huge...
