I am giving 2 stars (not 1) only because this place used to have better service, which has gone down with each of our last three visits. Food is good/decent, but service brings the experience down (especially with the bottomless coffee - you need to chase them to even give you refills or to get their attention for anything). Once you order, they serve you and forget you are there. Our last experience being the absolute worst, which provoked me to finally write a review. Our last visit was on 16-April and I wouldn’t even give 1 star for the service. We had a female server whom we had never been served by before (but we had only just started coming to this place for our weekly brunches, and she was likely away the last few times). This is the same lady I spoke to on the phone before coming, to ensure they were not closed due to the easter weekend, and she was not pleasant to talk too and because of that we almost wanted to go to our other go to place. However, the other place had a long waiting time (as always), so we ended up going here as this place had several tables open. From the very beginning her behaviour was unwelcoming. We ordered their bottomless coffee with the meal, but what’s the point if we had to work so hard to get a refill. The lady din’t bother to come by our table to ask if we needed a refill, when the cup was obviously sitting empty close to the edge of the table. We somehow got her attention after trying relentlessly, and she just looked at me, said one minute and walked the other way. So after waiting for a while, I flagged the other server, who came and said he will bring the refill but never came around. Yet, he was going around other tables (that he was taking care of) offering the refills himself. Finally, she came by with the coffee, and no smile, no conversation, just poured the coffee while looking the other way (uninterested) and left while dripping a few drops of coffee on the table on my wife’s side. Then, some time goes by, we are in the middle of our meal and she comes by and asked if we needed containers to go (what? we were clearly eating), but I humbly ignored and said ‘no we are good, thanks, but can you refill the coffee please as we have been waiting for it for a while (again). This time she comes by for the refill (after maybe 5-7 mins, when we were almost done with our food), but with the bill, without bothering to ask if we wanted anything else. I said but we are still eating and we just got coffee, and she replies, “I don’t mean to rush you, but I have to leave” (huh? So? There are other servers who can take over). We still wanted to order smoothies in the end as always, but at this point we din’t bother. We paid for our meal, and after finishing our food, left without finishing our coffees. And guess what? She never left and in fact she started taking care of two new tables. This is the worst experience (despite good food) we had at any breakfast place. We won’t be returning here, and will stick with other places with much...
Read moreI don't usually write these but this made an exception. For starters, there was only one waitress working. It wasn't exceptionally busy, maybe 2 others tables besides us so we didn't think anything of it. When we were ordering, she was saying dishes included a side of toast that didn't really make sense to us, like the pancakes. This is when we found that it was only her second day of working there. The management throw people to go work alone on their second day of work?? Poor girl. She was great despite everything else.
I ordered huevos rancheros. It was literally one giant, raw tortilla with 3 little fried eggs on top and the TINIEST bit of salsa that was not fresh (the amount of salsa was actually hilarious compared to the giant tortilla), 2 tiny pieces of fruit and mushy "hash browns" (which should be crispy). Terrible. My husbands coffee tasted like they re-used old coffee grounds and just added cold water to it. His pancakes had old rotten looking fruit on it. My mother-in-law ordered a simple bacon and cheddar omelette. That's it, nothing fancy. She is not from here and isn't comfortable eating much other than meat and potatoes. It came with avocado and some salsa and some mystery sauce on top of the omelette because an other waiter (who was not helping us) for some reason assumed we ordered the southwest omelette? Instead of asking our waitress he just assumes this, and my MIL doesn't speak english and won't eat anything "weird" so I don't understand why he would assume that we ordered that without asking our waitress. Finally, my MIL's food was meant to come with a side of toast... We asked to upgrade that to french toast and were told there would be an extra charge. Totally fine. When it came, the french toast arrived on a separate plate with about 5/6 pieces of french toast. We were suspicious, but since my food was awful I was happy we got a little extra. HOWEVER, on the bill we were charged for a full order of french toast. This just made no sense because if it was being looked at as a separate order then my MIL's meal should come with regular toast. This was fixed on the bill, but I feel like if the managers didn't put the poor waitress to work alone, maybe this wouldn't have happened. Based on their poor treatment of their staff alone I will not be returning. I'm only writing this review because they display a sign right in the middle of the restaurant asking people to review them, so...

Away on Tournament we needed breakie to refuel! Found Eggsmart on Google so we headed there! Although the restaurant looked run down we decided to order. We were happy that our food arrived fairly quickly as we had a game to get to. Unfortunately we noticed blood in our egg yolk and quickly pointed it out to our server who promptly had new eggs prepared! We were further dissapointed when our "new eggs" were delivered back to our table, on our now wiped off original plate, and discovered these eggs also had blood in their yolks! When we pointed it out to our server she polietly explained that "The Chef told her it was normal!" Now... I've cooked eggs for 40+ years, the last 8 years 3 or 4 days a week (its all the protein my athletic son will eat) and only a hand full of times have I got blood in my yolks... And NEVER twice from the same container!! PSA: Blood in eggs isn't HEALTHY and definately isn't "Normal" to serve! Ask any properly trained Chef!
We couldn't eat the food as our appetites were gone. We politely asked to not be charged for the $7.99 plate of food as it had not eaten. Our server said that the owner said he couldn't do anything. We asked our server if we could speak to the Owner about our experience. She left our table and eventually returned to explain that HE (the owner) was not going to talk to us because HE could not speak english! Really!! You bought a Franchise in Canada without speaking english?? Why not just come out and tell me you don't respect me or my family enough to speak to me!
Bottom line folks:
The breakfast plate was $7.99, so lets say $1.50 - $2.00 at cost. For $5.99 (less operating expenses) our "non-english speaking" Franchise owner just bought himself a POOR review and a recount of my experience on social media. AND I will for sure tell my story to several dozen other sporting families in the future. We're on tourney 6 or 7 a year and will definately avoid Eggsmart in the future!
P.S. Our...
